I install the last wall log on the back of the cabin and frame the gables with half-log posts and lumber before lifting the firs of three log purlins in place. Cali, my wife and I paddle a local river to cool off on a hot day, and I cook a few bear steaks on the campfire for lunches while working on the cabin. geezerdude: Looks like you might have it weathered in before snow flies. Good luck! Lots of hard work accomplished and a lot more to do. It looks much more livable than your first cabin though, but you learned a lot there. I bet you dropped your gym membership years ago though! But there is satisfaction when your manual labor brings in results you can see. Glad you and the family have some sanity time together too, so it is not just all hard physical work. Be careful and stay healthy.

SHAWN & OUR CALI we are getting the rain also down south in Northern ILLINOIS! It is great to see you take a PROTEIN Break as it rains outside for you! Got my second crop of tomato plants on outside getting the rain to make them grow higher now will have another crop one way or another they are the short cherry tomatoes that only get so high for a person so they will be grand to have in the house then!

Making real progress! Always amazed at the engineering required to move those big logs into elevated spaces! Not like the first several courses. Enjoyed the drone footage, but that wasn t much of a lunch, by your usual standards. And we re you cooking the meat well done for a reason?

Good work Shawn. It is so impressive to see you raising those big logs all by yourself, scribing them, fitting them perfectly. Amazing. I watched all your videos and it is unbelievable the work ethic you have. Great work and beautiful videos.

Great video, as always. For me, the building part of your journey can never be long enough. Lot's of work for you to photograph and produce, but for me, the best parts of the episode. Well, maybe after Cali. Thanks for sharing.

i would be VERY concerned about mold living in a log cabin. he already had water seepage in his basement. this is the type of thing that can devastate your body. i was exposed to mold for a year and my health has deteriorated

Shawn, I have to say that I've been following you for a couple of years now and every time I see you laboring along, the only thing I can think of is that I wish I were there to give you a hand.

My goodness, Shawn, the new cabin is really coming along! It still amazes me that you do all of it yourself! Not only that but you somehow find the time to film your wonderful videos as well
