After digging out from a winter storm (that wasn't as bad as predicted in my location, I continue weatherproofing my off grid log cabin by adding door locks and trim to the porch door and the breezeway door. I insulate the ceiling and start installing charred 1 pine rough lumber, which immediately traps more of the heat from the woodstove and makes the cabin much more efficient than my last cabin.

Wow; just love the finishing work! There is something so satisfying about watching every nook and cranny being tended to. Loved watching Cali in the snow and waiting patiently by the door. Our Sophie loves the snow and cold, too. For dogs with heavy coats, it must feel like heaven to roll in the snow. That's some cabin and pup, Shawn. Thanks for the inspiration and stay warm; you will thanks to your own hard, meticulous work!

I realize that spray foam isn't necessarily a DIY task, so a bit outside the theme of the build, but it would be a game changer for this cabin. I'm just having my home done now and it's incredible stuff for sealing up the envelope and eliminating drafts. Still, the cabin is looking great.

I haven't seen a match dispenser like that in years, brings back good memories. Thank you for sharing this with us. Your cabin is nothing short of fabulous to me.

If Cali could have kept a journal the last 6-7 years, how would it read? I think it would be worth the read for sure. From a Dog; s Perspective.
