Log Cabin Building, Bushcraft, Survival Skills, Cooking, Canadian Wilderness, Off Grid Living, Homesteading Hi, I'm Shawn James. I am a passionate outdoorsman living the life of my dreams in a log cabin that I built by myself in the Canadian wilderness. Join me and my golden retriever, Cali and listen to the sounds of the forest in this relaxing wilderness setting. I prefer to keep my talking to a minimum and let the natural sounds of nature make you feel as though you are there with me. Otters and beavers and foxes, Oh my! They blew my mind. I live in a little cabin in the woods, too. The pleasure of actually seeing wildlife on a daily basis makes it all worthwhile. For me it's deer, turkey (31 roost in the woods just behind me, foxes, geese, bear, and twice, cougars. There's a beaver dam at the lake where I walk every day, but I have yet to see one in almost 20 years! I see the trees they fell, though! Love your nature cam and sharp eyes, Deer Stalker.

Nice to see you and your wife, Callie, back from Airzona. Yes you 3 needed to get away to warmer climate and from all the snow and cold weather. Look forward to more videos on the cabin, and many of the projects have to be finished. I hope your dog Calli will get well soon. She likes Airzona and the warm weather.
When you and your wife work on your vacation home in state of Airzona.

Wish we still had foxes around us. When we had the foxes, the mice and moles were kept under control. We had a lot more deer, wild turkeys, and other small animals and birds the foxes did not bother. Now we have coyote packs that have removed virtually all except the harmful varmints. A coyote pack even took down a horse a mile behind our house on one of the side roads.

Hi Shawn, your videos always get us to connect with nature. It goes beyond the boundaries of culture, colour and tribal affiliations - its man & nature. The way God intended it to be. respect yourself, nature & your fellow man.

What a joy to watch your videos again. Nothing is more relaxing and soothing to watch and enjoy. So jealous of your piece of heaven in the Canadian wilderness. Oh to be 40 years younger with our own cabin in the woods of Northern Minnesota! Thanks!

Cali is so cute. i am so glad you have a lovely loyal dog who can accompany you every where you go. Your cabin is so beautiful as always. Sometimes i wonder if someone is living in your old cabin before. Be safe always with our family and Cali.

I enjoyed seeing those river Otters, I snuck up on one in a kayak about 30 years ago in an area of SW Missouri that supposedly didn't have any anymore. We don't have any idea what's really out there now days because no one goes to some places anymore!

I hope you and your wife enjoyed your visit to the US. It's good though, to see you back in familiar surroundings. The otters, foxes and moose were perfect additions to the video!
Best wishes for Callie. I do hope it was nothing serious.

Oh my gosh that's two little otters out there playing. I hope you know how blessed you are to have the knowledge to do what you have done and to live there in the peace and the serenity and the quiet. I thank you so much for sharing with us

Ahh. Reminds me of the Real Self Reliance when I started Watching in 2016.
Awesome video. Love the scenery and the serenity. Looking forward to this
in the late spring when I begin my forest treks. Thank you Shawn.

FYI, when putting up your scaffold instead of a stepladder put your first 2 sections and bracing up then your walk boards. Stand on that and raise your next sections. Much easier and safer than the stepladder

I am glad you are back from your Arizona trip. I missed you. Sorry to hear about your beautiful dog. My dog Bonnie walks on three legs most of the time. The animal doctor said my dog has arthritis.

Currently observing the partial eclipse whilst also observing Shawn being industrious, see multitasking is possible Awesome video Sir. Now that's a healthy wee Fox, not like the poor city dwellers we see here.

Shawn, with your skills, you should make some lap trays or a tray that sits across the arms of your chair for eating. It sure would be a lot easier than cutting up your steak on a plate on your lap! LOL

You're never really alone in the wilderness forest. Listen to the playful sounds of otters or the meandering moose with the low sounds of the rushing, flowing and splashing stream flowing in the distance.

Twice I commented about interchangeable screen and glass windows. Did you see it. Screen April to October and glass October to April. Works great. My grandparents had a huge screen porch like that!
