We use the same thing - left over/second hand oven racks. (So cheap that we often leave them behind at established campsites for future by us or someones else. (Never expect to find them there when we return though) Another thing that works well for us when we want a smaller grill, is to use the rack out of an old toaster oven. No cutting required, but not as sturdy as a regular oven rack. Thanks for sharing!

I did the same thing awhile back for backpacking this summer. I used an old bbq grill and bent old tent spikes on each corner to push it into the ground. But I love your old recycle pant idea. Gonna have to make few. And when I say make a few is by getting my mom to sew them for me. HAHA. Keep up the awesome videos. I love watching them in the morning.

i bought a basic sewing machine a few years ago, made about 40 hankies to learn how it works. basic sewing skills are a must. youtube taugt me everything i know about sewing.
i took extra home economics classes in highschool to be familar with basics. helped. on site sewing repairs are aweosme. assuming theres a needle and thread available.

Old refrigerator / chest or upright freezer wire racks. Junkyard stoves/ovens wire racks. Cast off industrial wire shelving racks (Home Depot, bent edges for legs, and raised platform. Modern closet wire racks. HD flat kitchen dish-drying wire rack (Rubbermaid, Tupperware might have to burn off plastic/rubber coating. Old meat smoker wire racks.

Like the repurposing of the pant legs. Very cool. I'm looking for a smaller stainless grill top for backpack stoves though. Just started my research but I'm not finding anything very easily on YT. The search continues. Maybe drill more holes in one of those holey BBQ spatulas.

Great idea. Made one with a grinder and it took 4 minutes. Bent the tines on the other side into hooks to use in making biltong. Can't wait to use my new grill in the bush.

look into a 60- sewing machine from walmart, then watch some YouTube videos on sewing. you will be able to make and repair anything you want. take care

I can't help myself, a bit of a pack rat, and racks are hard to pass up. Some you can find are thicker material, more durable.
