1 white tailed deer = food for one month per person? Nice my family we consume 9 deer per year that's my 7 year old son my wife my adult mentality challenged sister and me. Then there's 2 turkeys plenty of rabbits pheasants fish I catch we have back yard chickens for eggs and we do about 20 broiler chickens spring and fall so 40 chickens most go into the deep freeze as we like them fried the best and that gives us our fat. Deer are made into steaks roasts and then grinding meat for hamburger sausage.
Some are smoked and put up for special occasions. I can veggies from garden a large 25'x35' garden we've got apple trees pear trees and a peach tree two hives of honey bees and we live in the city large city, Des Moines, Iowa. Needless to say we don't have much of a food expense. I was taught this by my mother. my father taught me fishing but my mom taught me to garden to cook wild game to clean it! I was toting a 20 gauge single shot at 12 years of age, alone I wasn't allowed to hunt with friends uncles I could grandfather but no kids I'm old now and enjoy your videos! I remember driving to Canada every summer when I was a child to catch coolers of fish to last thru the fall. lake trout walleyes and pike! I appreciate all you do it's fun to watch!

Alright guys, buckle up for this video. I was really at a loss for what to do. While you watch (or don't watch) just remember that I dragged my camera, camera arm, bow, and my sorry ass around for all 24 of these hunts. I sat through beautiful sunshine, rain, sleet, and snow. Got to enjoy some beautiful views, saw some wildlife, and saw nothing special at all while experiencing temperatures that made me sweat, and made my fingers numb. While the hunt didn't turn out victorious, it was still part of my life experience and a big part of living off the land in a more traditional way that most ordinary folk experience. It is what it is. I left it until now, because I was either going to press delete on the footage or show it. I realize it's no sizzle reel material.

Very beautiful footage of your hunts. You should be proud of this video and anyone who doesn't like it needs to get a life. You recorded and went through hours of boring video, just to get what action you did have and present to us folks, who may never step foot in Ontario. I for one enjoyed it and rooted for your success all the way to the end! I too take a leak in scrapes l to -freshen- them up. A deer's sense of smell is not complex enough to tell what pissed in the scrape, only that something other than they did. You made it perfectly clear that you don't need the newest most advanced hunting clothes or scent eliminating crap they sell to have success. You could've easily tagged out but chose not to. I enjoyed your video from one hunter to another!

It's nice to have multiple stands like you do. The more I hunted Whitetails the more I hunted their bedding areas. During the pre-rut bucks spend approx 90% of their time in and around their bedding areas, so as a hunter that is where I focused my time when hunting. I always had great success hunting the bedding areas. Might be something to focus on next season. It's far more challenging getting into their secure areas, but far more rewarding when you pull it off. Great footage, very clear image. Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.

My sitting-in-a-stand-days are long over - just too tedious. But, back in the day, I've often thought about what if I made a human decoy stand about a couple hundred yards up the trail. I'd put a cardboard cutout and try to make it jiggle with a breeze. I'd make it just stinky enough to let the furry, feathered annoyances think they'd spotted something. Then, as they moved on toward me, they'd think they were in the clear and WHAMMO! Never tried it. I'm what the First Nation would name; -Too Lazy To Live. -

This gave a great amount of insight (much like all of your videos haha) as a city person who recently got some land (My parents are 1st gen immigrants with next to no family here in ontario, so they had higher priorities than hunting and land) my parents and I have been excited for next year so that I can get my hunting license

Those memories will last your son a life time. Mine are lasting from when my dad took me out as a little guy. Even started a fire in the woods because my feet were cold! Haha

Good video man. It's not easy finding a place to hunt in Southern Ontario. You're showing how it really is. Sometimes countless hours in the stand waiting for that special buck to come within range of the broadhead's reach. Been there man and I never regret being there.

great vid mate very realistic and raw hunting, you guys hunt deer alot differently than down here in Australia with your tree stands, its mostly spot and stalk down here. do other hunters ever use your tree stands if they are on public land?
