I live on Vancouver Island where we have Western Big Leaf Maple which can be tapped from December to early March. I get after it every season. When your sap freezes the sugars concentrate in the remaining liquid. not in the ice crystals. You can pull out the ice with minimal loss of sugar and save some time and heat energy when evaporating. I know a guy who puts his sap pails in the freezer until they are half frozen in order to concentrate the sap before boiling it off. That's his step one.

Natives didnt take anything from nature for the sake of money. Natives only took what was needed for their families and they always gave thanks for everything. Get your facts straight. And yes natives did have pots. They made their own. Stop looking on the internet for answers about native history. You're not going to find it! This false information is so upsetting. If it wasnt for natives, your ancestors would've died of starvation and disease.
