I really love the talk after the cleaning of the animals. You could tell he was a little upset about it. But you were patient and talked it out with him. I'm sure he got some time to decompress in between as well. You never seemed impatient or angry or shameing. Didn't force the situation.
He is super brave to have wanted to learn to dispatch with you. I don't think I could have done it. I want to try it first with fish. I have watched my dad do it in the kitchen sink with guinea pigs, rabbits, old hens, and pigeons (He's from Peru)
Harder since I'm older but I think it is a very valuable lesson and I want to learn. The lesson of something sacrificing and the value of food/meat is important. So no waste.
I do the same with picking out bones when I cook for my family. Bones give amazing broth flavor too!

I love how you sit with him at 8: 45 and explain to him and wipe his tear off. AWESOME FATHER FIGURE Brotha! I-m gonna start to do my 1st -wild rabbit- hunt here in my area and would appreciate any tips Sir. Basically I-m also starting on my shooting skills, have a 410fps bb handG, and a 800fps bb/pallet rifle. Any tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated! One rare time I was out with my dad, he shot a grouse we went to a place with water, and without cleaning the grouse, he covered it with a thick cake of mud, build a good fire, and heated up some large stones, and dug a fairly deep hole, when the stones got hot, buried them in the hole and on top pit the grouse, and buried it! we left for a few hours, 4 or 5 hours later we came back, he dug up the grouse, he cracked the mud on a rock, and pulled it off, took most of the feathers too, he then cleaned it and we ate! It was a very tasty dinner!

Your boy is so cool and smart and I love how patient you are with him. I learned to fire a bow at like 6 or 7 years old and I think I learned how to fish even earlier. A bb gun a year after that. A rifle by 10 years old and a shotgun by 11 or 12. but my dad would very easily get mad. By the time i was 13 or so I refused to go on family vacations because I knew most of the trip would be my dad getting super angry with everyone and cussing us all out for the rest of the drive. my point is that you're doing it right!

Really interesting, but notice all the fallen trees, which means a Big Foot loves there, notices the big X they make out of two trees! Not too safe a place to be trapping!
