Hey! Clarke just had 500 rainbows dropped off in our pond last week. about a half acre, spring fed, tonnes of minnows, frogs (tadpoles right now) and a windmill pump for extra oxygen. But I don't seem to be seeing any activity on the surface with them and they aren't coming to get the pellets when I feed. The water is somewhat murky, so I can't see much a foot or two from the shoreline. Should I be concerned? The pond had trout stocked in it years ago, and the only worry was the Blue Heron: )

Stock tiger muskie. TRUST ME MUSKY DONT EAT TROUT. Tiger Musky can help get the trout HUGE! I should know, all the pond's of I've seen with Musky and Trout have massive trout
You want to stock a ton of huge muskie so that they dont get eaten by any bass or other fish remnants

#2 - Tiny - chuckles / #3 = Sleepy cause Big Trophy fish usually stay in the deepest areas and slowly feed and are elusive #1 - Rocky cause a mid age young healthy trout is usually hyper active and schooling around everywhere

For trout I thought you needed a certain percentage of water being 18ft deep or more unless you have a cold water spring or creek feeding it. Helps avoid summer and winter fish kill

Put in pond bales of old barley straw and let it rot down it will kill algae and condition water, home to lots of creatures, which are foo for fish.

Fish 1= fish. Fish 2= chips. Most were creatures from a black lagoon though, much better in your pond I hope. until you're hungry of course -

your trout won't breed without running water, they also will get worms in warm waterways.
you should have done a warm water fish

it might be a bit too premature letting the kids swim, I would give it more time to make sure there are no more snapping turtles
