I traveled to Jordan in the Middle East to catch and cook a Giant Squid. These scary creatures are considered delicacies in this region, so I had to try eating them. Dr. Marwan is a professional at catching, cleaning, and cooking Giant Squid, so we headed to the Gulf of Aqaba to fish for them. We were fishing in over 2, 000ft (700 meters) of water using electric Penn reels. After catching a few squid, I threw a topwater squid lure to catch one on the surface, and it got destroyed! I released that squid and dropped another bait down. While bringing the next squid up, we noticed a swordfish following it to the boat! I pitched the swordfish a squid tentacle on a Penn Spinning reel, and he ate it immediately! After landing the fish, Marwan and I returned to his home, where we cleaned and cooked the squid and swordfish. I love the catching part very much. But I am amazed how good the guy can cook. I have Swiss, Italian and French ancestry and I am married to a Filippina for 34 years. Very interesting to see a cooking that is a mixture of French and Filipino way. Being partly Southern Italian I LOVE squid and swordfish. And having been to the Philippines many time of course I am in love with marlin and grouper as well. The first time I ate Humbolt squid was in the Philippines. But it was grilled and kind of tough and not well spiced. Lately I could buy Humbold squid in Italy and I cooked it Italian style with lots of garlic, laurel, some tomatoes and onions, pepper, parsley and vinegar. You can eat that cold as a salad as well.

That's so crazy how they just change colors like that in an instant! Not just a little either I mean from white to solid blood red is absolutely incredible. Such a cool and fascinating creature. This is going on the bucket list FOR SURE! Just wow, amazing! This is probably one of my more favorite videos of yours just behind the 2nd Saw Fish you hooked up to.
Also glad to see you back in action and making full recovery.

It s an amazing episode and footages.
I hated doing tho in Jordan fishing legislation don t exist!
On the other side of the border in Eilat, israel sword fish are protected species! And they must by realised in case been hook and not being eaten 3 times a day! Although fishing is life it s selfs. Next time to go on a fishing travel make sure you don t damage the surrounding

No: No need to beat squid: Even if Filipinos tell you so. Freeze it and it will be less tough. Same with octopus.
Then the secret of it being not so tough. Eat it raw or cook it for about half an hour and it will not be rubbery. In Korea they eat opctopus and squid chopped to pieces alive and the parts are still crawling in your mouth. That is TERRIBLE!

Btw a Humboldt squid's beak is so sharp and powerful that one can bite off a person's hand at the wrist with a few well placed bites
also Humboldt squids eat up to a staggering 80% of there body weight in the first year of their lives as Humboldt squids only live 2 years on average

We stayed at hotels in Cabo before and specifically said they wouldn t prepare swordfish for our meals. I don t know why though. Worms?

The scariest thing in this video was when he put his bare hands so close to the winding spool. That's how you lose your fingers.
