BIGGEST Stingray Caught from a Dock - Australia River Monster

I'm gonna catch the biggest stingray I've ever seen from a dock - the smooth stingray, one of the largest and most venomous rays in the world. These massive creatures roam the Mersey River in Tasmania, Australia, where they can grow as big as a car. I'm fishing with my friend Jet, who's been filming fishing shows in Australia for over a decade, and his friend Jarvis, who is known for catching these giant stingrays. We drove over 300 miles to a dock just outside the city, where we started chumming for these river monsters. We tried catching another stingray, but they didn't come back. That evening, we drove back to St. Helens and met Paul, Jet's dad, the host of iFishTV, and an Australian legend. The next day, we headed offshore to catch more giant stingrays and, hopefully, some new species. We get some vbig flying carpets here in the Hunter River too.
Biggest one I've hooked took 2 guys with 2 gaffs to drag out of the water, after we flipped it over. very carefully from a safe distance (long aluminium gaff poles were bent in the process.
Spikes on tail were > 12 long! NO ONE WANTED TO DEAL WITH BEING NAILED BY THEM.
I was live baiting from the shore THE WINCH Horseshoe for jewfish, Alvey 651C5 (35lb mono) on my trusty FSU7165 . My shoulder harness helped lots.
About the same size the one shown here (maybe bigger. I was asked by one of guys who helped me land it sure you couldn't hook bigger one LOL.
I was very disappointed as I was hoping for a good jewfish. hook was retrieved and we left it there for the guys who catch beach worms to deal with. For me this was a wasted yakka.

Dude I can't stand it when somebody teases an animal oh here you want this food want this food want this food oh sike you can't have it oh here comes another one oh do you want this food do you want this food you want this food oh it's like you can't have it either I don't like that if you're going to feed them feed them if not don't tease them and let me give you some advice too if they're stingrays all around you you should shuffle your feet and not pick them up because you may never know you may go back and step backwards and step right on a ray and you want that raise going to do he's going to light your ass up so the best thing to do is shuffle your feet

There's only one other stingray bigger than that and that's the Mekong the Mekong stingray is the largest stingray just like the Mekong catfish is the largest catfish I mean you want to see a fish that gets the size of a freaking a minivan yeah they get freaking huge and the stingrays yeah you'll spend hours I'm talking at least 8 to 12 hours to bring those ones in and you get the largest tarp that you can get and that's your net when you hook into a Mekong stingray

You guys are an absolute disgrace to rec fishers globally. Completely unnecessary harassment of a magnificent ray you are just like the other American influencer who got caught harassing a wombat recently and fled the country. Don’t let the door hit you on the arse.

i like how the guy put the piece of carpet on the gunnel to not scratch the the boat after josh laid the brick on it. lol. i guess im not so nitpicky with my boat after all but with how much money they cost can you really blame us

These rays are everywhere in Tasmania, on some days I've gone down to my local jetty and seen 5 separate rays swim past in the space of 5 minutes, completely harmless. if you mind your own business.

need to be careful with them sometimes, ive had one stab its self to death before i could get it back in the water. even some tape would stop it. they keep our rivers clean! barbed hooks are not necessary.

Hey Josh I am from tassie and fish for stingers as well I have spotted sting rays 3 times amount of that lurking around jetties in the Derwent they would spool that reel if you would of hooked onto them.

This is nothing like the one and the fight that Jeremy Wade had catching that fresh water stingray in Thailand. But with that being said it's still a very impressive catch and I'm sure scary as heck!

I’ve seen bigger above yall at Warrnambool at the pier, they swim around the pier, my dad has caught a baby one that looks a meter long. Thr adults look 1-3 meters side to side and 3 meters wide.

I would love to see you go fishing with Jeremy Wade and try and find River Monsters with him. His TV show was fascinating and eye opening to the size of these incredibly huge fish

I reckon there are even bigger ones swimming around the jetty’s at Rottnest island. Whenever I fish there they always steal your bait. Some of them are well over 200 kg i reckon

As a land based shark and ray fisherman in Oz, I'm pretty sure any kind of burleying or chumming like that will potentially wind you up in lots of trouble with fisheries.
