In this episode, Josh and Dr. Robert Borrego headed offshore to go fishing for sailfish, kingfish and dolphin (Mahi. The day started off using live goggle eyes for bait. After several hours, we only had one bite, a dolphin. Josh then started vertical jigging with the hopes of hooking a nice kingfish. After catching a bullet bonito, Josh hooked a kingfish on the jig. Josh rigged up a bullet bonito and used it for live bait, hoping to catch a big kingfish. Shortly after, the rod bent over and the reel started screaming. This was no kingfish Josh was convinced that he hooked a big shark. An hour into the fight, the sun begins to set and the shark is winning the battle. 45 minutes after the sun set, Josh spotted the monster, it was a huge bull shark Josh managed to bring the shark boat side before it took another run and snapped the 30lb monofilament. It was an epic fight that lasted nearly two hours

Hey Josh, sometime during spring break or summer you need to head to the Dry Tortugas. There's this big dock there and Goliath groupers, tarpon, snook, lemon sharks, nurse sharks, and other types of hard fighting fish hang out there. Offshore you can get kings, mutton, hogfish, trigger fish, black grouper, red grouper, and maybe gag groupers. Best ways to get those are spearfishing and bottom fishing. It's also good with diving with nice wrecks and most of the times 70+ ft visibility. Last year, I caught a 7ft lemon shark and lost a nice 100-150 lb tarpon on the pilings and my cousin caught a 300+lb Goliath grouper. Don't use your big reels though, your high enough where 30-50 lb mono is perfect. We used Shimano TLD single speed 25's with 30 lb mono and 175-500 lb wire and used hogfish skins. Hope you see this and go

What you said about the swordfish on jigs is true, i fish in the northeast and on one of the tuna trips in the canyons i dropped a jig 200 ft and instantly got nailed but it felt like something hit it and then swallowed it, i got it up to 80 ft and saw it was a baby sword, it made another run but the hook pulled, jigging definitly works for swords

That vertical jigging looks crazy tiring, but damn is it effective. It's definitely on my bucket list to do, you never know what you have hooked.
