Ya'll can have that wade fishing in salt & brackish water. I wade fished for many years in the Indian River Lagoon for trout & other species. Had a blast & caught some nice fish. until the day came. I was hit by what felt like a medium sized ray RIGHT IN THE ANKLE where all the little bones & ligaments are to your foot. The ray's barb hung in my ankle & boot, as it was yanking my leg around in 3 feet of water to pull free. There were 3 of us fishing just like you guys were in this video. Yes, I was being careful & doing the stingray shuffle. but that didn't matter. I WAS WEARING HI-TOP HIKING SHOES MUCH LIKE YOU WERE WEARING IN THIS VIDEO, AND THE RAY'S BARB WENT THROUGH MY SHOE LIKE NOTHING. The deep, throbbing pain like getting smacked in the ankle with a hammer immediately set in. and only kept getting worse. But the worse was yet to come. After an immediate trip to the ER and repeated visits to the doctor, my ankle kept developing an ever-worsening infection, even though they had me on the most powerful antibiotics. My outer ankle was totally black, blue, & purple, and swelled to the size of a half of a medium sized grapefruit. My God it was so gruesome. I kept soaking it in a clean, warm tub of Epsom salts, but day after day, it got worse. After an entire week, the doctors said they were READY TO AMPUTATE MY ENTIRE FOOT, as we had to do SOMETHING and very soon. By the Grace of God, the very next morning, the swelling & infection started to slowly dwindle. The doctors had given me only 48 hours to amputate my foot, to save my leg The whole nightmare went on for 2 weeks. But I was out of work for a month. I've had several friends get hit with ray's while wading, but they always got hit ABOVE the ankle in only flesh ( no tendons, ligaments & small ankle bones hit, so their wounds weren't near as bad as mine. That happened back in 1986. YOU CANNOT PAY ME ENOUGH TO WADE IN THAT RIVER EVER AGAIN. Later in 1989 while fishing for huge bull reds at the Pineda causeway, we witnessed a fellow angler catch a huge stingray that he laid across the hood of his old Chevy Vega. THAT RAY COVERED HIS ENTIRE HOOD & ITS WING TIPS DRAPED DOWN OVER THE SIDES OF BOTH FENDERS. The base of its tail was 8 in DIAMETER, AND IT HAD MULTIPLE BARBS 6 LONG WE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. That damn ray could KILL A MAN. Remember Steve Irwin. Between my getting hit with a ray, and seeing that monster ray a few years later, all of my angling buddies who also witnessed it have STOPPED wading in that river as well. Between the rays and the bull sharks, the risk just isn't worth it. Not in our book.

I know it's wade fishing but when I was young we didn't get in the St John's except when we were shrimping off the coast. I always called it surf fishing because I was fishing (in the water) on the coast standing with waves crashing against you. I'd get up to my navel sometimes a little deeper. I always wore either a shirt or swim trunks and store my dead bait shrimp in the pockets to avoid going back and forth to shore. Good times. Caught a pompano at Hannah park didn't know what it was at the time but he broke me off and I hooked the same fish and got my liter back It was a nice size one though. I've caught trout similar to those in the St John's before as well using a rooster tail.

Grande Isle, LA Wade Fishing w/ a very Long Stringer LOADED with SPECKS & REDS trailing behind me, SHARK goes between my legs & takes the Belly out of my largest Speck about 3-4 pounder, LIKE A HOT RAZOR-BLADE THRU BUTTER AS CLEAN A CUT AS YOU HAVE EVER SEEN = WAY BETTER THAN ANY ULTRA-SHARP BUTCHER KNIFE. WE GRABBED OUR STRINGERS UP OUTTA DA WATER STILL HANGING DOWN ON 'BOTH' SIDES OF MY BODY DUE TO IT'S LONG LENGTH & Made it up on very small INDEPENDENCE ISLAND out in the middle of Barataria Bay. I WAS A SCARED STIFF, DAMN LUCKY 12 YEAR OLD

Josh, can you crimp 600lb 49 wire? I saw Chew On This double it up, wrap it, and crimp a 3-4 section when he caught that 1, 000 lb monster hammerhead. He said it was basically like 1200lb because he doubled it. I was under the impression you cant crimp it. Any thoughts? Does the 49 relate to the size of the wire or brand? It looked liked there were several different lbs rating under that wire. Sorry for all the questions. just trying to make a Monster-Giant shark rig that tops all others. :-)

I watched this from my phone last night, actually played this and Robert's in the background while doing admin and missed the finer points. The shirt thing made me laugh, looked a sports club out fishing. Good group, great video and I was fired up to get on the water again. Sadly, have to wait until Monday.

Wading the IRL for trout is one of my favorite forms of fishing. I've had great fun using topwater during the early hours, and fan casting with good success casting parallel to the mangroves. Cheers and thanks for the vid

I'm always cussing the weather forecasters over their continuous LOUSY WIND PREDICTIONS. AT LEAST 1/3 TO 1/2 OF THE TIME, THEY GET THE WIND DIRECTION AND SPEED WRONG. AND I'M FISHING HERE IN EAST/CENTRAL FLORIDA.
