Dont know f ur an amature in fishing. Your spool is lock. There is no dragging to tire the fish. Try to adjust ur clutch if your rod bends to near 180 curvature. Thats why most of your hit got lost. Most are broken line some snap swevel or leader. Try to learn from experience nd do research why.

Real fisherman stay out and land their fish If your worried about lightning dont go out on the water. Its not as bad as these guys made it seem like. You have more to worry about with the waves getting big and throwing u around vs lightning

Honestly man I work on a charter boat and I catch 4-10 ft sharks on a 40-80# class rod and a penn 6/0 senator while standing up with no belt you need to loosen your drag and stand up

I fish jettys and have this same problem. Sharks stealing my catch. I use wire tippets. So they get the fish not my gear
