I used to live in a cottage near the 7 Mile Bridge: The tarpon fishing there can be tough at times (hit or miss, but when you do hook up it's usually a really awesome-sized tarpon! There are a lot of hammerheads there, and a lot of big rays that used to steal my bait too. There are some absolutely massive (monster) bull sharks that at night hang around the Key Colony Beach causeway. Vaca Cut in Marathon is a good place to hook up on tarpon and snook- especially on mullet (I use to fish there at night a lot, and just let my bait drift back from the light into the area shadowed by the bridge - the fish line up there! If you follow Vaca Cut into the bay (heading N/NW about 2-3 miles) there are some seriously impressive nurse sharks there - huge huge huge! There are insanely large Jewfish and grouper in the ocean-side canals (the canals right next to the open sea) on Duck Key. The back country off of Big Pine (at night) won't yield the really big tarpon like by the bridge, but once they start biting you'll catch so many it's crazy: I actually tied my empty beer can onto my line and cast it into the water - a tarpon grabbed it and refused to let go until it got right to the shore (seriously. They're in the 50-100lb range out that way. Have fun out there! Even though I'm up here in Chicago now I still consider the Keys my forever home - my heart is there.

(2: 42 - 3: 00) those soft science shoes really did a good job keeping you from slipping with that choppy water.
(11: 48) that was the wet 'sales tag' from the net, the shark flung it with its tail.
Oh Noooo. out of gas but then. Yaaaay you got Landsharks to ease the pain: -)
It's still an exciting trip. The Keys is such an amazing place to be, keep up the great work!

Wow, that tarpon hook up with the waves rolling over the boat and giant shark action made for a very exciting opener; the editing of that segment was awesome too! What a disappointment to not have the bait you really needed for the following day. My goal is to catch a big tarpon from shore. I've only caught small ones before.

Dang Darcie, I don't think that Tarpon made it either. Can you believe that people actually go swimming in it? I have seen some really big Sharks in 2ft of water in the Surf eating our Trout and Redfish. Personally, I will never get in it again, there's big, hungry stuff in there. Great video, loved your Bib: )

Great job guys, myself and a few friends were fishing Pine Island Sound two years ago for tarpon, no tarpon that day buy our guide put us on some shark, we hooked into 2, but they had different ideas, both broke off.
Cant wait to get back and try it again.
Keep up the good work!

Great clip! Some serious rocking and rolling under that bridge! Darcie your balance under those conditions was amazing! Your lines touched a couple of Tarpon! That's awesome. Some incredible action when that hammerhead showed up! You two are entertaining as always!

Hey thanks for all the great fishing action. I'm doing a job in Miami starting June 1st. Can you recommend a good day charter about that time or 3 weeks later, I may be too busy to fish until the job is done. Most importantly though, WHAT'S BITING!
