Here's an idea for bait catching. Toast some bread or use stale bread and chuck it through a blender to make crumbs. Then toss some of that out to pull the bait fist to the surface then net them. Not sure if it will work but it's an idea worth considering even if you just see how the breadcrumb thing makes the fish react.
