The shark fishing season seems to have been off to a patchy start in Cornwall this year. But with the bait fish arriving finally it seems to have attracted the toothy fish. and some giant mackerel!

15: 09 those chum slicks are similar a sort of tool for sailors to deal with bad weather. I knew a very experienced yachtsman who told me he always kept a bottle of oil on ship for if he gets the chance to test out how he'd read of people using oil to calm the seas in rough dangerous weather to survive (he didn't sail rough seas so he never used it. I thought it was a bit suspect, some superstition, until I saw it for myself using chum slicks and how all the little waves ripples are calmed, and in rougher conditions especially you won't see white water.

Excellent John and the Mrs, follow every video, I am 63 years old and still learning, your so lucky to have great fishing their, I live in Ayr. South west Scotland, on the Firth of Clyde, where over fishing by trawlers has completely destroyed our fishing grounds, Hopefully after Brexit the fish stocks will return, Keep up the good work John.

Love your videos! The family foraging and fishing together is so sweet and calming! One question though, I-ve never gone shark fishing but when you catch one could you find a loose tooth and take it to keep? I know they have a lot of bacteria and things in their mouths but do people play dentist with their catch-s for a keep sake?

Yes keep the deck neat and tidy. makes all the difference. Would great to see some tuna busting close up. might there be the odd porbeagle haunting the wrecks down there in the deeps. great to know all that rich ecosystem is there. me. free lining for various species on local canal today. guess where I would rather be.

I was wondering as a city girl this fascinates me so much as its totally out of my area of any knowledge. So I just watched the lobster pot video and I was wondering, when you put bait in the pots how do you keep like sharks from tearing at the cages/pots to get the bait? Or do they not like the smell?

That was exciting. -knew he was ready for another one'. Yes it was a glorious morning. A grateful heart is contagious. Love how u treat the ocean and shore like it is your home. Glad you have your sunglasses today because the other day the sun was hurting your eyes.

I might have been out the same day tuna sharkes and a small whale, brilliant day. I was near the manacles anchored catching loads of conger up to 30lb big huss and a few thornbacks all on a 12lb class rod, at one point there were 6 blues circling the boat

Exciting fishing day. But fishing alone for sharks. gutsy, adrenaline rush for sure. I'm one of the few that likes shark meat, that would have made it to my table. Again great step by step. Thanks for the thrill of watching.

Great video-s - looks like a beautiful part of the world. How far out do you go when shark fishing? Would love to see a video on how you would tackle a porbeagle --

Never fisherman. Have dived. Love to eat it! Starting to think about a trip to Seattle (Eastern Washington guy in Yakima) for a bit of beach forging.
