Hauling Crab and Lobster Pots in bad weather - Winter Sea Fishing - The Fish Locker
video description
You have the pots in your boat, and the rest still in the water.
So, without having to cut anybody's rope, wouldn't it be feasible to get hold of their line and drag it over your head and your boat, then drop it back into the sea (if you understand what I mean?
and then it will be clear of the rest of your pots?
By the way, I went to a restaurant once and ordered crab.
They brought me one out and it only had one claw.
I mentioned this and was told that it had probably been in a fight?
I then said, -well bring me the winner-. ------

Nice one John - some nice Crab and a decent Lobster there. It must be a nightmare trying to get the pots up if there is another string over the top. I guess when you are shooting a longish string of pots, if the marker for another set can be difficult to see, plus if there is only a marker on one end, you don'y know which direction the string is laid out. Water on the Lens was a bit of an issue, but couldn't be helped, and you cleaned it frequently enough for us to see what you were up to! This was certainly better than no video at all! -- Stay safe & well. -

A quick side question, because I see all that land behind you. Is there a way for plants to be grown on that land that could be used to feed the ecosystem in the water, then you can feed the ecosystem in the water to produce more food for you and everyone else over a long period of time? Would that very act upset the natural order of that ecosystem's balance, because of the saying 'Nature does not need any help'?

Another great video. Please don't take this the wrong way but I'm surprised that you don't have an engine kill cord attached or use a life line when you're alone on your boat. Years back when I had my boat someone who moored near me was lost at sea and his boat was found beached with the engine still running. This convinced the rest of us how important they are.

Good evening FishLocker,
As I use to work on a commercial boat, like you, I was interested on the bait. Ray, once wings were removed, was a Top bait for crab, it seems. Fresh bait on the other hand seemed to be the preferred choice for lobsters. Could you mentioned what are you using and why next time? Thank you.
PS: ever heard about using rabbit?

John - did you see the 2 part -Simon Reeve in Cornwall- mini-series on BBC? I posted you a message about it somewhere but even I can't find the message now! If you didn't see it, find it on the iPlayer - in part 2 he visits the Lobster hatchery where you took Pinchy Thanos 2, and releases some baby Lobsters.

What a nice trip mate. You know, as long as you dont put your self in danger when your out I dont see any problems if it a bit rain on the footage. And just so you know, it is not fun being out when its windy and hailing, it hurts the eyes and skin in the face - hope you have a good one my friend and take care -

-Calm Down. right. Are you gonna stop? - John. you have to speak to the lobster in it's own language. Maybe it would understand if you were to click your claws! LOL! But, it's still funny to watch you try and reason with a Lobster. Or should I say, -A cracking Lobster! -. Greetings from Calfornia! DmGrk
