Thanks for all the great squid, cuttlefish, octopus fishing tips and techniques! I never caught a squid before and bought those luminescent colored squid rigs thinking I had to use a bright light source over a pier. I-m only fishing off the pier here in Eastport Maine. Eastport has a huge 410- long pier that nobody ever goes at night fishing for squid. I love eating them and their is no limit for them. We have both longfin and shortfin squid over here.
1)Longfin squid Loligo pealei
2) Shortfin squid Illex illecebrosus
Love catching mackerel and cold smoke those babies using yellow birch wood. It tastes exactly like ham and the fish flesh resembles cheese in texture.
When are you catching these cuttlefish, octopus?
Out tides are over 20 feet in difference from low to high tide. So look ahead for the least difference in tidal water changes?
Amazing your catching octopus, cuttlefish in daylight hours! I-d love to catch and eat octopus too.

Hi i am replacing the outboard engine on my boat. at the moment there is a 75hp 2 stroke and my boat is 16 foot. I want to know if a 25hp 4 stroke will be enough as i dont want to go too fast. How fast did you get on your 30hp on full throttel. i only need to go about 6 knots against the tide at flamborough head on half throttle or less. thanks: o)

Enjoyed the video and Learned a lot. Honestly didn't know you could fish for cuttle and octopus with a rod. How do you dispatch them?
I Have seen cuttlefish harass baits meant for other fish on some of your previous videos and thought they were considered to be pests. Looking forward to a catch and cook if you do one.

I remember winter cod fishing in the Solent 40 years ago using squid as bait discussing how in parts of Southern Europe people would eat squid for dinner, what strange people they must be. Fast forward 40 years I am now living in Greece and squid and octopus is just normal cuisine. Funny how life turns out sometimes.

This I cannot see, my friend. I love the taste of grilled Octopus, but I have become more aware of their intelligence in our family of living species. How do you feel about the Octopus as an intelligent being? I know many are going to label me as a snowflake, but I strongly feel life is worth giving attention to.

Love the videos, so informational and well filmed! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I have learned a lot! As a chef, I often try to inform myself about where our product comes from and how it is harvested/hunted/foraged etc, with respect given to sustainability. Its always wonderful to learn!

Octopus is more expensive than other marine animals here. Yummy. The easiest recipe: rub it with flour and rinse with water. Put it in boiling water with onion. Turn off the heat 30 sec later. Cut octopus as you like. voila, the soup for hangover. You can eat whole octopus, no part to throw away.

Used to watch my Father-in-law try to work out river fish psychology, times, bait and bizarrely to me spam! This was really interesting sea fishing but cant help worry about you doing so many things in the boat solo, but you clearly know what your doing, dolphins too. Great watch.
