Your father-law displayed the old joke about the rube, blacksmith and the horseshoe.
Rube approaches the forge, there-s a horseshoe, it-s red hot, he picks it up. Drops it immediately. Smithy says -hot ain-t it -,
Rube replies, - No, just doesn-t take me long to look at a horseshoe -. ------Thank you ladies and gentlemen, don-t forget to tip your waitress, next performance at 11. Good night.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, his cooking videos are always excellent, keep them coming. Personally I don't use so much salt, not for healthy reasons, I just think that it masks the taste. The rest is very similar to how I do mine, it's nice to know that I've got it right!
By the way here in Cambridgeshire we also call them scraps so don't think that it's just a northern name for them.

Absolutely gutted John! .sat here watching the video while eating a mousetrap cheese sandwich and a bag of crisps! .Here in my part of the Midlands we called them scratchings, as boy's we could get a bag full with loads of salt and vinegar for 2 old pence after school. those were the days! .

Brilliant collaboration again folks. Learning as much from Jim about prep and cooking of my catch as from you about getting the stuff in the boat. I'd say my catch qualities are definitely improving, unfortunately my waistline is increasing too - Keep it coming John

John,
Was the cod fried traditionally
in beef fat (tallow) or another type of oil? I realize you and Hannah eat a rather healthy menu, but few things add as much flavour or fry things as crisp as beef fat.
Thank You!
Happy Christmas

Now stop it John, you're a naughty man. I'm on a one meal a day diet and haven't eaten since last night. I'm bloomin starving and you do that crunch thing at the intro. You're very cruel and I've stopped watching until after I've eaten later.

It's a pleasure to watch Jim cook. The fish meat is so moist and juicy when you cut it open at 11: 52. Can only imagine how good it tastes. This has got to be one of the best fish and chips ever cooked anywhere on this planet, haha.
