A brilliant sea fishing session in February. Stunning sunrise, calm conditions ( at least to start with ) and great fishing. What more could you ask for? Some fantastic sport on light gear with lures and float fishing. Then some fishing at anchor with incredible underwater footage

What a beautiful day you had that day and some nice fish. I see you do catch the odd coal fish there, that size fish is really fun to catch on a fly rod- the do have some speed and strength to give a nice fight. I have just restored the table in the boat and put new fabric on the sitting group in the boat. The underwater footage is nice so we can see how the seabed-s looks like and the kind of fish that lives there. There is always room for the dogs - or they find a way to get they-re photos taken-

Great video as ever Mr Fishlocker. I-m getting serious boat fishing envy I haven-t been out on a boat since September, hopefully be back out there in April. You-ve inspired me to take a light spinning rod with me the next time I get out I-ve got a Penn Rampage 20-50g with a Penn Battle 3000 reel I could use would that be suitable for inshore Pollock etc like in the video? What breaking strain of braid would u recommend? Cheers Roger.

Hi John another great video. It-s not about the size of fish it-s the sport-fantastic!
Where do you set the depth of your float on such undulating seabed? Do you pick a depth in the water column or try and keep the live bait near the kelp? Very curious as you use two methods that I very much like but seems to be treated with scorn by a lot of boat anglers but they sure do work. Please keep making these very interesting videos.

What is it about that part of the coast that make fish so abundant? i live in Brighton with the sea just a ten minute walk, you will never catch mackerel before about May, you will never ever see pilchards here either, you just don-t catch any decent fish here with any regularity, might have something to do with those enormous dutch factory ships hoovering up everything that swims, you are a lucky man John.

One of the things I love about you and your videos, is that you always answer the question I have in my head just as I have thought it. For example, at 12: 30 you mention the porpoise and I was thinking -how can you tell its a porpoise not a dolphin? -; then at 12: 40 you answer that exact question! Brilliant. Do you do visits to schools to talk about marine life? Because you totally should --

Beautiful video, John. I'm out here pounding out hours on the hard water in Michigan and you're ocean fishing with barely a coat on. Lol.
I appreciate how much care you have for the fish. The darker fish, was it a coal fish, you threw back BECAUSE it's a rare catch whereas so many fisherman would keep it for the selfsame reason. Wonderful mindset and thanks for doing what you do, sir.

Hi John. Another really enjoyable Fishing at it best Video. I am really surprised on how good the Fishing is in February - the underwater camera is a great idea to see all the small creatures at the start of the food chain along with your fish finding equipment all increases your chance of a good catch. lovely mate- kept um coming- Ian

Another quick question mate do the porpoise and dolphins ever attack the fish you catch, the seals at the gare won't let you get a mackerel out -- and there is a story of a kayaker, hanging he's catch in a net bag over the side to keep it fresh, seal latched on and wiped him out, took the fish capsized the kayak --

Hi John, just out of interest, do you find the 30hp four stroke motor you have on your boat is sufficient for all your needs. when you are steaming out a long way etc? And what speed does it send your boat along at roughly? I only ask as I am thinking of swapping my 50hp two stroke for something else. cheers cK

Paradise - absolutely. your videos are so informative and entertaining - congratulations - better than any of the dubious 'celebrity' shows on TV - great work - keep it up. Two questions, when are you at anchor or drifting and - will that deep hooked pollack survive?
