Fair amount of bass this run. Beautiful fish and tasty too. Was a little surprised that you set free one or two of them which seemed a fair size. Maybe it's just an unexperienced eye on my side. I also noticed you've tossed back a lot of dogfish in many of your videos. In other shows I've seen people keep and cook them up. I assume you aren't into them at all?
It's great that you seem to love what you're doing. It's refreshing to see.

That looked like a familiar location John! Well done for persevering on your gilthead quest, nice mix of species & a stonking really dark coloured bull huss to boot, love the colours of the larger gilthead, especially the coppery tones on the gill plates, never noticed that before!
P. S I wonder whether the novice on board not extending the landing net pole contributed to the loss of that decent gilthead a few weeks ago!

I love your videos. I'm originally from Long Island, New York and loved to fish when I was a kid. It used to be off the docks rather than out at sea so it was kind of limited. Live in Arizona now which is pretty much landlocked. There are some lakes, many to most are man made, but that's not quite the same. I appreciate you making these and hope you can keep making them a long time to come.

Hi John, are you having a bash at the Haddock in Mount's bay this year? Now you've moved house getting into Mount's bay should be less of a drive. Portreath has an interesting natural swimming pool that fills up when the tide comes in. Some of the fish in it are weird looking, big head with a slim body, and look like a dragon fish.

Hi John i have been chatting around and it seems like there is definite big lul in the fishing around the uk ATM. Charter boats whitby/teesside are also seeing a major downturn in fish coming over the side. Is this your experience in your area? and if yes have you seen similar spells in your years of fishing?
many thanks

This one slipped through the net John, so catching up again. Well done on getting the target Bream, and the Bull Huss were stunning. I was thinking how dark the big one was, and then you caught another which really showed off the colour difference. Nice quiet sessions oop t'estuary lad! -- Nice one - stay safe & well! --

Do bull husk make for good eating?
I personally am kinda keen on a nice lump of battered Flake, aka Rock Salmon, aka Dog Fish from the chippie, when I can find it! But then, I just love almost every seafood, which is kinda poo, as we live in Warwickshire, about as far from the coast as you can get in England! -

you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. Gilt head s are my fav'. The only ones in our fishmongers are farmed abroad. Madness as we live by the sea. also. Good to see all the young bass. good sign for the future stocks. Thanks for another great video. Best wishes to the Fishlocker family from Plymouth

What sort of ground were you fishing there? I know it was shallow water and I imagine its kinda shingle sandy? I'm just hazarding a guess I didn't catch if u said the type of ground in the video. Anyway beautiful bream can understand why you'd target them both sport and for the table. Another great video

I know you are conservation minded and very careful with your fish so am surprised you aren't using circle hooks to prevent deep hooking, particularly if you happen to be fishing in a bass nursery area. I do and I catch plenty of bream with great hook up success.
