The Chateaugay River and other rivers/streams in the region of Malone in upstate New York have some excellent fly fishing for brown, rainbow and brook trout. In this 2001 video host Colin McKeown joins some friends in early September to do some nymph fishing on the beautiful Chateaugay and pass on their knowledge of techniques that lead to success. This show is from the first season of The New Fly Fisher, 20 years ago!

Amazing fishing and scenery! When I see rivers like that I have a tendency to trade my fishing rod for my camera, no wonder why I am not that good at fishing. Thank you for the numerous advises on nymph fishing, I will try it as soon as I stop using my camera. The beauty with using a camera is I do not feel bad not catching any fish. You seem to have found a way to combine the two and sharing it with us, thank you. ---

Loved the vid, watched with mixed feelings as it reminds me of some of the rivers I fished over 30 years back. Unspoilt. I fish and do small vids on small lakes now, as our rivers are in decline and almost nothing able to live in them, and silt building up every year, with every flood. I do get enjoyment fishing these stocked ponds and doing the videos BUT ITS Nothing like what you lucky Angler's have.

Cool video, that was upper upper upstate NY lol. I've never fished that particular stream but the boulders and bowling ball rocks look familiar on the ones I have fished. Wading staff and Korkers are part of my equipment up there, and I still look like Colin navigating the stream bed, ;o) Thanks guys.

Hello! Awesome video. Does anyone know of trout water near orange county New York? I have leg problems, so the less walking, the better. I just moved to NY, and it seems like no one knows where I can catch trout
