Great video, those little mice also work plenty of places other than Canada. Both Rainbows and Browns eat them just like Bass do. Rebel lures make small barbless hard body Pop-R baits that cast easier than big deer hair flies and last much longer. There is simply a ton of small minnows, soft body frogs and micro hard baits you can cast fine on an 8-weight or larger fly rod that simply work. If you ever tied deer hair much you will quickly realize they take a long time to make and deer hair is messy to use. I understand using natural materials is the traditional method however, I see no reason not to use lures that last longer and work the same. The same big brown you see sipping tiny mayflies will also crush a mouse. There is certainly no mistake when you get a strike. You proved that, I laughed every time one those big trout smashed your mouse because of the shocking sounds coming from your voice. One thing I know, Trout don-t care if the lure is made of wood, plastic, hair or feathers but you are the only one that might.

Absolutely NOTHING like throwing a fly, or a mouse!
If I ever come into a lottery win, I will do this kind of wonderful adventure fishing no doubt. Definitely a bucket list item for me to do! Professional Guided fishing, world class fishing, geez what else can one want!

Hi Guys, could you tell us the name of that topwater Pike fly that you said Brad Bowen created (with the black foam block head? I thought you had said -swing hips- on the video but I can-t find any record of it anywhere. It also looks like a fly that you had called a quarter chicken a couple of years back in another quick episode. Thanks For all the great videos though- It-s really helping out during these long days!

I was a river guide for Dave Duncan and sons in SW Alaska for summers 2006-12, the mouse for giant leopard rainbows was my favorite thing to do up there. Chosen and goodnews rivers, best trout fishing i have ever done. And i have lived in Montana for most of my life.

21: 02 That doesn't look like a rainbow but then I spent most of my life fishing the Sierra Nevada Mountains and a fish that size is rare for a Rainbow but not a Brown. Awesome white tips on the fins, remind me of the Brook Trout I used to catch. Awesome Video, thanks for sharing! Was absolutely beautiful!

Thirty years ago fishing a small creek in Montana I landed a huge (for the creek) 14- brookie. Protruding from its maw was a snake like tail. It was a mouse. It changed my thinking and resulted in many explosive surface takes from many trout species. I love it.

I lived near Hearst. Kapuskasing On. There's many places up north to catch specks but Sutton river is King for big huge mice snaking trout. Beautiful char. Great video and I now have to make mice.
