Impressive stabilization and 240 FPS shooting, but its applicability is still limited, imho. For example, in majority of fishing trips that I've posted, it would simply be borderline unusable. I want POV shooting, i. e. head mounted, and it is simply terrible as a head mounted device. It sticks like a brick, you can't put a sun cape on top of it, etc. Simply unusable in tight situations, with lots of branches overhead, etc. And although It may not be a problem for me, coz I pretty much never meet anyone, but even so I don't want to attract attention and to be that filming guy even when fishing and, well, the brick stuck on your head is not very discrete. Plus, the battery is underwhelming (but replaceable, if I understand correctly.
I have a purely Chinese headband type camera for 2, 5 years now and it shoots for three hours minimum on one charge. And the sound is at least as good, if not better. But the price was about 4 times less than the latest GoPro cost at the time of purchase. Yes, it has, how to put it, issues (becomes unresponsive in low temperatures, for example; , but in the end, it is headband shaped and makes pretty decent videos. By the way, the prices of these Hero things are insane, considering how much they cost to make, imho. Just insane.
Happy Holidays and tight lines! :)

Hey man, I have a GPH6 Black that switches the audio from mic to mic and has caused some poor results. The ice fishing season is about to begin here and I'm looking for a good audio solution. I just picked up a Cannon M50 and am about to order a RODE Videomicro for it. It comes with a Deluxe Furry Windshield so I'm hoping that will work well for outdoor filming. My hero 5 and hero 6 should work good for inside a hut due to their wide-angle lenses. I have one of those PowerDeWise lav mics also and have been plugging it into my phone and using a voice recorder for backup/redundant audio but I may need to get a standalone voice recorder because I like to use my phone to record or just use throughout the day. I'm just wondering if you have any suggestions to tweak this system because I'm really anxious to put out some nice quality Bay of Quinte videos this season. It's always a treat to see your latest video. Thanks for another great one. I'll have to explore that external battery for the GoPro option as well!

Great video!
What do you use for a video production program? I also have a hero 7 black. When trying to view the videos on my computer I cant see the actual video from the mp4 files. All I get when I import the mp4s to premier elements (granted its an older version of elements) is only audio. All files on the computer contain the mp4, lrv, and thm files with each clip. Any suggestions for a program to use so I can view/edit my videos?

Have you ever owned or used any other brands? Sony's, Garmin Vibes, etc? Bought my son a SJ(I think that's what it was) years ago and that seemed to take nice video for the price, which was pretty cheap dollar wise compared to GoPro.
Also, I know you use a chest mount but what were you using for a mount when holding the GoPro?

Any video you can recommend for taking the black bars off the side of the video when editing the video? I edit my videos from my phone and used my phone to record as well up until I just got a gopro 7 silver for Christmas. Do you know of an app or something I can do so the video is taking up the entire screen after editing it? Thanks

Just love all your videos Jay! You recently gave me some great advice on Sigma Art lenses 24mm, 50mm 85mm. I just got them, testing them, beautiful. But, have you noticed the out of focus point on all three lenses past Infinity? Any help, advice on this would be great. Thanks Jay, enjoy the Crappies

Great vid Jay. I am not a techy person at all. My wife bought me a Go Pro a few years ago, had fun using it, but my computer is horrible for editing. Super slow and choppy. So irritating I quit using the Go Pro. What would you recommend I need for computer stuff to be able to edit vids?

Great video. Would using super stabilization all the time use more memory and battery power? Great slow motion shot Jay. Also, did you publish this at 24FPS? I love watching your filming tech talk videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I use a 5 black and I love it. Perfect for the videos I'm uploading. The voice commands help a lot since the camera is out of reach. But Man oh man I want that hyper smooth in the 7. Blew me away when I first saw how smooth it was.
