Fishing 3 Years for 1 EPIC BITE!

This bucket list fish has alluded me for 3 years now. I've been traveling down to Florida during that blacktip shark migration year and year with my friend blacktiph, to try and catch a blacktip shark on a topwater lure. Topwater fishing is the best and most exciting kind of fishing in bass fishing and fishing for all sorts of species. A shark hitting a topwater lure however, is just frightening! I've had some sharks in past years follow my lure, but never actually eat it. It is small window to catch these sharks during their migration, but an even smaller window to catch them when they are actually feeding. These blacktip sharks are very similar to largemouth bass in the way that they will only hit lures in low light conditions. You have to wake up super early to catch a blacktip on a topwater lure. I spent the morning trying to get blow ups on camera with little luck, and then when I made my first cast, the blacktip smashed my bait just like a bass when I paused it to turn my GoPro on. Blacktip sharks jump and spin similar to dolphins, so the lure actually came out of the fish's mouth and re hooked into it's back while I was fighting it. I was very lucky to land this fish. Special thanks to my biddy BlacktipH for helping me for 3 years to catch this fish

this battle reminded me of an hour battle I had with a cow nosed ray somewhere in the waters around New Jersey. me and all my fishing buddies thought it was a huge flounder but I wasn't disappointed to see what it was. the cow nosed ray is this judge freshwater ray that comes into the waters around NJ some years to I think mate. but every couple years they pop up and are fun to catch. I don't people target them but they get caught on squid by people drifting for fluke

Congrats. They're tough enough mouth hooked, that was a workout. The one flipflop technique worked great, will have to try that.
The fall mullet run is awesome too - sharks, jack, tarpon, snook all exploding around you with mullet flying everywhere.
Hope they're not hungry today, the swell has come up and just heading right about there to do some surfing on a 6'4.

Congrats LFG! Very entertaining video to watch! I noticed you nor Black tip where Costas, any reason? I need a new pair of shades and debating if they're worth the price over more affordable options.
