This state-sanctioned cruelty of using migratory birds for target practice flies in the face of the self-aggrandizing nonsense hunters often espouse. There is no justification for dove hunting. These birds are not deemed overpopulated nor do they cause damage to commercial farming. In fact, doves are extremely beneficial to the environment and aid farmers by feeding on weed seeds -- an invaluable service that provides a natural alternative to the herbicides that routinely pollute our landscapes.
If killing for target practice and our wildlife managers' complicity in this suffering is not objectionable enough, consider research conducted that reflects an average wounding rate of 30 percent. Those birds not retrieved are often crippled and continue to suffer until they fall victim to starvation or predation. These unretrieved birds are not included in the hunter's bag limit and consequently, she/he can kill and maim even more animals. Equally troubling is that many doves are still tending to their offspring during September, which leads to additional undocumented deaths. Furthermore, doves mate for life and when one is killed, the breeding pair is lost.

Uhhhhhh sixteen gauge has less powder, anddd less pellets. Which meansssss LESS RECOIL. Y'all making no sense brah. Like saying a beer hits harder than a shot of moonshine xD and look at those bruises! How long have you been shooting? That's pathetic to be honest, I haven't seen such poor form since I taught my little sister to shoot on her first day. Like another comment said, bruises don't lie, you have that gun in the wrong place. Wayyy too far out to the side. You want it close to your chest, pulled in. But yeah, saying 16 gauge is worse than 12 gauge makes no sense. None whatsoever.

If that thing kicks at all you need to re-tune it for your ammunition. Move the friction recoil sleeves. For me, the old A-5 Light Twelve is a soft-kickin' delight to shoot. The long recoil (The barrel recoils with the bolt) absorbs a lot of energy that otherwise goes into the shoulder.

shot low country doves with several friends & belgians, triple consecutively, apx 90%+.
humpback is on the nose, too heavy yet stable swing. fine times with many fine browning auto 5's, sweet 16's, 20s, 12s, and a band of world class shots, 17 yr olds. inertia, hmm, gas?

okay tell your dad to shoulder it properly put the toe of the stock in the socket. If the recoil is still too strong check your friction ring setting. Also replace those old collapsed action and recoil springs. a properly set up a5/11 have very manageable recoil

We have hundreds and hundreds of doves here in Utah you know the place where John browning was from anyways we dont care much for shotguns I tried shooting a dove with my 30-06 of course sitting but it blew it apart anyways good video

I love seein' you and your dad man, hes awsome. Reminds me of hunting with my dad and dove hunting was my favorite! Enjoy it while you can, my dad passed a couple years ago at 49 and my biggest regret is no last hunt!
