i've been throwing my 8lb braid into tress and shit and i rarely ever have a fray, but i do always have a rod length of the same lb leader on all my set ups, which all have braid. i currently only use my 30lb for sharks, and i just set up a 8-13lb rod with 15lb, also for sharks lol. they're under 1m in length but their skin is rough and they like to get wrapped in the line so they rough up the leader. i do use a wire tracer, but i rarely re tie my leader cos 30lb is pretty bloody tough and will handle a lot of sharks rubbing against it. other people catch the same size sharks on 8lb line, so when i hear you say 65lb i'm like whaaaaaat? lol. i'm fairly new to fishing (in Australia) so i'll probably find out fairly soon why you'd go for such a heavy line, but at the same time, i'm only going to put 65-80lb braid on my heavy rod for big sharks lol

Been fishing for a little over 4 decades or so and never felt I've had a problem catching fish. When I was a young child I had one rod and one reel with one line in it and cast whatever I had and at whatever fish I was trying to catch. Now I have 3 different rigs. But with watching all these How to fish better videos I can see how I need to drag about 30 to 35 different rigs out to fish just to accommodate line/lure type/lure size/fish species/technique/cover/water clarity. etc I am avoiding watching videos that recommend boats for fear that I will need 14 different boats for required changes in color, size, motors. etc.

they need to lower the price by a lot. Karls Bait and Tackle site: 6 lb mono: non members twice the cost as named brands. members still 3 dollars more than named brands. that is too bad. if price could be closer. i would try it however it is not worth that price to even try it. well, that is for my wallet maybe not yours. if a millionaire maybe no big deal

Hey man I had a problem not getting good hook sets, then when I decided to yank that sucker like I was trying to pull thanos infinity stone glove off, I kept breaking it where my flouro meets my braid with different knots too. Im confuzzled

as a guy who has only fished buzz baits and tube baits for the last 10 years and is trying to branch out and learn different techniques to fish I love these. The more the better honestly.

So I flip the bandito bug a lot and Ive been having problems with getting the hook set good in the mouth. Do you have any tips or how to rig the hook or what size hook to use?
reply

U should do a test on line, add weights to the line see when it snaps. i got 5 different types line with same 8 lb. watch the stretch see which line is the best

Like the video. I personally use spool braid on all my reels then use 6 to 12 feet of proper type of leader material as needed. ie: Florida or mono.

Love more in depth instructional vids like this when it comes to materials used. such as lines and the reason behind certain choices you make

Ignorant newbie fisherman here. If 15lb flourocarbon, and 7ft med/heavy rob are the most versatile options, what would be the equivalent reel?
