Shit happens, you practice, you try to remember everything in the moment, but anyone who ever says it's easy is an idiot. The biggest thing I always tell folks who are getting started is to simplify as much as they can. Pre-plan and walk through it repeatedly. Get range markers and figure out what that will really mean for sight adjustment or aiming adjustments ahead of time. Anything that changes in the moment is increasing the already not minor odds of things going wrong. Archery versus firearm just makes it that much more challenging because the trajectory is so much bigger a factor at normal hunting distances. Like you said, standing versus sitting can be inches. Add to an already slightly higher shot, maybe a little duck, maybe a less than perfect aim because it's not EXACTLY at the range you set a pin for. add it all up and this stuff happens. It's the folks that have it happen all the time, or aren't bothered by it, that shouldn't be out there.

That deer is fine bet you get him back on camera a couple weeks from now. let the area calm down so he sticks around. he doesn't have a clue what happen to him. one buck I shot. had a broadhead in his eye socket and survived. another had a hole in his skull from fighting. got a butche buddy who had found countless broadheads in deer that lived. including a couple where it was lodged under the spine. even seen one on trailcam with and arrow in its side. this deer got the equivalent of a paper cut to us. next time just go though all the motions every time, and if your smart and don't take dumb shots. you'll never miss heart or lungs again. as long as an arrow doesn't fail on the way to an animal

i will be honest with you, i thought you missed completely. i slowed the video down to. 5 and watched that shot a couple of times. i thought that when the buck heard your bow release, he flinched. his back went down, and it looked like the arrow went right over him. i felt that if it hit him at all, it was the shaft that hit him. but being you said you found blood, and you heard him crash, he might of just been in a little shock. i never bowed hunted, but i missed the biggest deer of my life with a shotgun. so i know how you feel.

Don t be too hard on yourself boss. Anyone that watches you or knows you personally can see that you take your hunting very seriously and that you d never gamble on a shot you hadn t already practiced to perfection. I know how you feel and I ve been there myself. The only thing to do is recreate the shot so you can better understand what happened and why. HEY MAN YOU ARE THE SAME GUY THAT TOOK HIS ENTIRE FAMILY INTO A STAND, CHILDREN AND ALL, AND MANAGED TO DRAG ONE OUT! Novice hunters don t pull that off. I m just saying.

LFG, it happens to us all its a part of hunting. Stuff happens you can do your best to try and avoid bad situations in the woods but sometimes stuff just happens. A few years back I shot at a monster main frame 9 with a 243 at about 150 yards and I thought I smoked him. Climbed down and found good looking blood and tracked it for 50 yards and then not another drop anywhere. I looked and looked and never found him, I was devastated but I think it shows your character with how upset you got.

It happens to everyone who bow hunts unfortunately. Shot my biggest buck ever with my crossbow an knew where I was aiming it should be down within 100 yards but we tracked good blood for well over a mile then just started finding less an less blood till it stopped. Looked for days with dog, and drones with no luck. That was the last time I went hunting before got stuck in wheelchair so had double whammy happen. Still sick about it years later

True fans know the heart ache you have man. I know that you are VERY respectful to the animals you go after. I hope you found him if you went back out the next day or he healed up and is living his best life. I don't hunt but from watching y'all on here I know that what happened is a part of hunting. That's why its called hunting n not killing. Stay strong you true fans are behind ya man.

Dude why didn't you trim those limbs while hanging your stand you were in no way prepared to make a killing shot it comes with not enough time and experience in the deer woods I also saw you loose a nice bull elk by making a poor shot. Might be a good idea if you stick to fishing your damn good at that bow hunting is definitely not for everybody just saying.

It looked like you shot high and missed to me man. And that clean arrow says its a miss or a clean pass that wasnt a critical shot. Also the deer could of been in shock from running into a fence. If you didnt find a lot of blood that was a miss my man dont beat yourself up about it. Or find someone with a dog that can track it for ya
