I will never forget Lake Okeechobee in 2013 My Dad was racing in a P1 Panther Race there that weekend and I was on the Start/Finish boat. A beautiful Cheoy Lee 76 Alpha. My Dad was racing for Cheoy Lee at the time. Out of nowhere a nasty storm rolled through. They called off the race until weather passed. However, I was on the back deck of the Yacht smoking a cigarette when my girl open the door and said get inside now. As soon as the salon door shut the Yacht got struck by lightning. Took out 500k in Electronics. Then we had to figure out how to get the boat out of the lake because it was a HUGE girl dead in the water. Tow Boat US came through the locks and got us back to Ft. Lauderdale. You can’t make this shit up. 100% true story.

About 4 years ago I caught a swordfish just over 300 lb on a stand up 50w reel on a 125 ft head boat out of New Jersey at about 3am in the Hudson canyon. Me and my buddy took turns fighting the fish for about an hour and 20 minutes we ended up doing about four laps around the boat. And then it ended up charging straight at the boat I was on the port side bow fighting it reeling as quick as I could to take up the slack and by the time it came tight again the fish was on the surface right on the starboard bow and one of the mates got a gaff in it. It was definitely the best catch of my fishing career so far.

I've caught swordfish but it was always at night fishing the Canyons off of New Jersey. We would leave early on a Saturday morning get to the canyons and Bluewater fish all day then at night we would set some lines for swordfishing and drift overnight with someone always on watch sometimes we would hook up and that was a real bonus. Then we would fish another four or five hours Sunday morning and head back in. Most of that was back in the 1980s and 90s but it was a lot of fun. All the guys that I fished with are now gone except me and I was the oldest one out of our six-pack crew

I’m from LA I’ve always heard about people getting hit by water spouts. Of course i was like what a bunch of idiots. Well we were trying to try and shoot the gap between storms. We made it last second into the harbor and all
Hell broke loose. We had electricity running up our rods and were in a white out, while idling. You could see it running up the rods so we tried to put the rods down but we would get lit up if we grabbed the rods. As soon as we made it to the dock kayaks started flying through the air. I’ll never forget that trip

Offshore fishing (Lake fishing is no joke either in Cali it's hot and you rarely catch fish) is expensive AF. And you better pray you actually catch fish or you can just light $200 on fire and play a fishing game on your PC

Great fishing trips and amazingly cooked swordfish! Do you guys never drink wine Can’t remember if I’ve seen you drink wine / beer but those steaks were screaming for a glass of wine if white wine or a cold beer!

Awesome video as always guys. I only ever had swordfish at a restaurant and like you said definitely more steak like than any other fish I have had. Can imagine fresh caught by yourself probably tastes even better

A Michelin star chef reckons that grill marks on steaks is burning the steak and not good. He recommended not using a bar grill for a nice caramelised crust and i suppose it works the same with fish steaks.

I watch your videos all the time, but I am very simple person and your cooking is usually too fancy for me. I loved what you cooked and was so simple. I loved everything about this catch, clean, and cook.

No offence and certainly no disrespect, but Brian The Hype Man is so appropriate a title. This from a man who's fished Banagat Light.

I know it's nice to towtruck those fish out of the water but doesn't it take away the thrill and reasoning behind fishing Just asking.
reply

american fisherman. : KILL EM ALL! YEE HAAA. Rest of the world. : We let the small fish go, so they can grow and be caught later.
