Use circle hooks instead of those straight wire long shank hooks. With circle hooks, bluegill, bream, shellcracker, warmouth perch, etc, are almost always caught in the corner of the mouth or around the edge of the mouth.

If you haven t tried them just scaled, gutted and fried until they are crunchy, then you haven t enjoyed bluegill/sunfish. Even crappie I do like that and they are amazing. For a more simple way at least
