In this episode I'm doing some urban bank fishing for exotic fish with Hai Truong and Fred York right in the heart of Miami. We're chasing crazy looking fish like midas cichlids, oscar cichlids, mayan cichlids, peacock bass, huge carp, largemouth bass and more right in people's backyards. IT IS SO MUCH FUN! Book a trip with Hai and catch some monster exotics of your own! Check Hai out on YouTube: Check Fred out on YouTube

Dude why are you RELEASING invasive exotics that are competing with our native fish and in many cases destroying the habitat, they eat the young of the native species as well slowly pushing them towards extinction, some native species may already be to far gone. 30 years ago that canal you were fishing would have yielded much Bluegill, maybe some Red Eared sunfish Warmouths, and or Crappies and Largemouth Bass, now look, theyve already replaced the native sunfish species through direct competition for resourses as well as predation on the fry of the natives. Exotics should be removed from any body of water you cstch them in.

Fishing for Exotic Cichlids in Miami. Large Cichlids are generally a food fish to the natives in South America they even eat Angelfish and Discus which are members of the Family Cichlidae. However all of those species you are catching are mostly the larger species of Cichlids that would be kept by many different hobbyists. Have you ever wondered why there are so many exotic and invasive species there are in Florida?

In saying that the canals are man-made are you also saying that there is a clear separation to the natural waterways of the area? What I'm getting at is that if there isn't then that makes no difference and re-releasing them just adds to the problem. If there is, do the individual fish owners also make that distinction when discarding these exotics? Either way it's a pretty sad blight on the fish keeping hobby.

When I cant hit lake Travis or Austin in my yak I take off down a creek I will not name here in Austin and catch pan fish in crystal clear water all day on a 7ft ultra lite rod and 2lb test. I giggle exactly like you guys do the entire time because its so much fun! Great video and Gig Em Ags!

Thats called an Oscar cichlid. Those are tank fish, sad to see them just thrown out in the wild. People use to throw them in our local lakes when they realize how dumb they are and cant take care of the oscars

What kind of a setup are you using? I keep getting snagged up on weeds in these canals. Should I use a bobber with a small splitshot? Sorry Im a beginner whos trying to catch some fish with my son!

Why do these guys keep releasing these exotic/invasive fish? Are they not aware of the fishing regulations, or do they simply not care about the natural environment?
