In this episode I'm heading back into Sturgeon Bay for my second attempt at king salmon, this time in my kayak. Come along as I try new methods and new areas in an attempt to FINALLY land my first king (chinook) salmon. Thomas: Don't feel bad I been going to the lower Niagara river since 2016 to catch these fish with very little success. My 1st trip out I lost 4 fish to broken hook, bent hook, pulled hook, and broken leader. Since this trip I hooked into 1 other salmon and landed it. The fall is the most difficult time to try and target these beast. Salmon type fish have been the one that I can't seem to nail down.

I think you need a bigger net my guy heartbreaking. Never had much luck fishing for these things growing up until this past fall I caught probably at least dozen in just a few trips to Port Washington. If you go for these fish again next year, port Washington is definitely a must. You can fish the docks like most people or you could even take your kayak you in the harbor and still catch em. Caught mine using spawn sacs and jigging kastmasters, better luck next time guy!

Oh man Rob. I hate to see it lol. Typically this is where 96% of kayak guys lose their Kings is at the net job. Listen, all I do is fish Lake Michigan for Salmon and I'd be happy to take you out and show you everything you need to know on kayak fishing for salmon. Feel free to check some of my last vids from this past Fall King run. I really smacked them up and I can get you on them as well. Tight lines bud

Hang in there Rob. The kings seem to be my nemesis as well. I ve caught browns, cohos, rainbows, and lakers out of Lake Michigan, all from the kayak. I keep try for kings, but can t seem to get it done. You can bet I will be out next season trying again. Some times, you just have to get back up on that horse. Hang in there brother. We all appreciate what you are doing!

Been Chinook fishing for 26 years. You're getting the same results as most of the rest of us! Some years you're lucky to get even one. This year I put in seven dawn-to-dusk trips and caught only one --that was too dark to bother keeping. Try fishing for them over here in the PNW. at the very least you'll have some stunning B-roll!

Thanks for posting this. Sometimes the torment can be maddening, but if fishing was simple all the time, it wouldn't be rewarding. This has been the worst year I can recall, aside from a few good fish, but no way I would quit. Every single cast is renewed hope. You just never know what might bite on the next cast.

I know the feeling. I lost what i believe was a 10+ pound bass in Georgia. One thing i dont understand is why u were goin after big fish with such a small net. Lesson learned i guess. Not just for you but all your viewers. Best of luck next time. Sub from me buddy

lol welcome to salmon fishing Robert. Very frustrating but, makes the reward of landing em all the worthwhile. Keep at em bud, steelhead fishing in the winter, imo, is even harder. However, once u learn how to catch em will be piece of cake
