HW News - New AMD CPUs, AMD Fixes USB Drop-Out, NVIDIA Crypto Lawsuit

Hardware news talks new AMD CPUs for 2021, the crypto mining lawsuit vs. NVIDIA, AMD's takeover of CPU sales, fixes for USB drop-out, Ryzen 5000 stock updates, and more. Nick: Wait, so there was an actual usb issue that could lead to DAC/AMP devices to crackle or stutter? I was trying to fix that kind of issue on my last mixer for months. I finally gave up and bought a new model, and sold the old one at a loss as a parts unit...
Would have been nice for AMD to admit this issue and let us common folk know in a timely fashion. The tech support told me it was very unlikely that the mobo or chipset was causing the issue, after a board rma failed to fix the issue.

I remember at one point Paul Otellini (Intel's CEO around the turn of the century) saying that ( I believe) 7nm was the limit's of what we can do with silicon. We are definitely approaching the limit of where quantum tunneling and other weird behavior that happens at the smallest of scales is a brick wall for Moore's law. Amazing fabs have been able to push this far using traditional semiconductor tech and I catch myself wondering if in 10 years I will be saying that I remember thinking 3nm might be the limit or if I will be using a computer with a different type of CPU design.
Great video as always, love the hardware news, even if I have seen it elsewhere, love hearing Steve's take on things.

I went and bought a 10700k figuring AMD still had dumb driver issues. I build an AMD for my friend years ago, and my sister built one years ago, both had problems I never, EVER had on my intel. It was actually beyond annoying, and it was small things like not being able to sync his mic up to discord for the longest time, and other weird things that just appeared incompatible. I'm sure many issues were fixed over time, but this was legit a decision maker when I was looking at the ryzen 8 core and intel 8 core. Is the better performance really worth the potential other issues that come with it? Never made sense to me.

hey just wanted to say I got my mouse mat about 2 or 3 days ago and I couldn t be happier with it, first huge mousepad I ve ever had and I absolutely love it. my mom even thought the design was pretty and my nephew (6 months) gave it the bang it with a fist repeatedly test to make sure it s of upstanding quality! thank you guys for everything you do at GN and I ll continue to support your videos and possibly purchase more from the store in the future :)

Question for my fellow pc enthusiasts:
I'm building a new pc soon, mainly for VR. Just focusing on cpu and mobo, I have 2 options that are in stock at Microcenter:
1) 5600x ( 279) and Asus b550 mini itx ( 229)
OR
2) 10700k ( 249) and Asus b550i mini itx ( 259).
Both cost exactly the same (about 542 after tax and combo discount)
Thoughts?? Any perspective is much appreciated!

amd's website is garbage. no wonder the bots get everything. you can't make an account or even prove you're human. you gotta enter all your info in after you add something to your cart and then pray to any and all gods that the bots left you a card by the time you finish putting all the information in and confirming your purchase...

Wasn't the release day MSRP for Ryzen 5600x 299? So stating that it is now available at MSRP is only true if you also state that the MSRP went up by 158 as thats what you'll pay at the lowest price in the UK right now. Am I missing something here? In relation to Amazon in the UK the situation is even worse with prices at a low of 491.

Not really related to the usb issue, but something I just came across on my x570 aorus elite, is that gigabytes rgb software was constantly resetting my bios. I couldn't for the longest time figure out why it was doing this. Wish i didn't have that ugly ass orange led still on the motherboard but hey, stability over rgb.

Got my mouse mat and shirt the other day. Damn Steve, the quality level is not lost on me! You must have gone through a bunch of vendors to land on your current ones and I'm glad you did. I've already had a few comments on the shirt and that mouse mat, every time I sit down at my PC I just can't help but admire it.

Damn. I really want to get a mousemat, but I just got the tools and I had to pay about the same cost in import taxes (ended up paying 90 total). I would gladly pay 29 + shipping but that doesn't include taxes... Bit overpriced at that point. Any plans to open a EU warehouse somewhere? Would help us EU fans out.
