Intel i7-11700K Memory Benchmarks: Gear 1 vs. Gear 2 on 3200MHz

Intel's Core i7-11700K CPU has been in our hands for over a week now, but we focused our initial CPU benchmarks on Intel's new memory Gear 1 & Gear 2 modes. Intel's Core i7-11700K CPU technically gets announced later today, but we bought one at retail with the help of Hardware31 (a case modder) to buy it. We're saving our 11700K review until we test the newest microcode, but for now, we'll benchmark the 11700K with memory Gear 1 & Gear 2 at 3200MHz to determine how much (or whether) it matters. This includes 10700K benchmarks on the charts, but the rest has been held for comparison until we publish our review. NOTE: WE HAVE CHANGED OUR CPU TESTING METHODOLOGY, SO RESULTS ARE NOT COMPARABLE TO OLD DATA.

Maybe dis is karma for them because years ago they doing forbidden practices like ransoming oems and force us to buy overpriced 4 cores cpu (especially 7th gen). And for Intel fanboys, they insults amd users (especially amd fanboys) in 2010-2016 and now.....
Amd users: feel our pain intel
And btw,FX aging better than intel older cpus because of more cores (but need some oc). Conclusion, single core only can retain for short time but multicore can retain for long time

I expect better from Gamers Nexus, nothing to really see here, it's almost clickbait. It's obvious Gear 1 is for 'low' / 'medium' mem speeds and will be on by default for at least 'low/medium' XMP. profiles (Auto). Gear 2 is clearly designed for high frequency Ram speeds (e.g. 4000 - 5000+ rated kits). It takes a huge load off the IMC so those sticks will actually run on most CPUs instead of it being a crapshoot like it is on 10 series and earlier intel CPUs.

This whole confusion could have been avoided if Anandtech had detailed their memory settings. It's bad enough that they're using CL22 memory, but also using three different memory configurations for 10th, 11th gen Intel and AMD (4x32GB DDR4-2933 (8 ranks into 4 rank IMC), 4x32GB DDR4-2933 and 2x32GB DDR4-3200 (4 ranks into 4 rank IMC) for each respectively). (They say they're using AS4U3200716G22-SGN modules, but they're 16GB, so who knows what's right).

I have an i9 9900KS and 16GB x2 system memory 3600 CAS 16. Because Call of Duty is a memory hog after about 3 hours of game play I have used 48GB of DDR4, other than that I see no reason to game with more than 32GB DDR4. [EDIT: I don't plan on upgrading my CPU and motherboard any time soon.]

G'day Steve,
just wondering if you will be letting us know if there is a performance difference between this bought CPU Vs the Intel Sample that you were given when NDA is over?
it wouldn't need a whole video but just some info in the 'Official Review' when you upload would be good

Ok something I don't get: it seems that being compatible with 3200 DDR4 memory is new when I'm actually running some with a 8700K and I know I could run 3600 and higher on that CPU... There's been no evolution on DRAM compatibility since 8th gen Core???!!

I don't understand... I might have been missing something in this video... but why would a consumer run this in G2 instead of G1? Heat or not-validated OC and we should not expect all CPU's to be able to do G1? What's Intels point with G2?

The CPU is being sold for 314 here.
A 9700K does cost 100 less.
If you already have a Z390 system with a lower end CPU, get a 9700K.
If not, get yourself an AMD Ryzen.
Asking 314 for this CPU is insulting.

Guys really? I always watch your reviews and videos but this one...
What about the latency, L3 cache,...real stuff for gaming and more. Higher speed rams...
Disappointed this time with anandtech and this review.

11th gen is a joke... can't even outperform 10th series in some games. That's what happens when you use same node like 6 times in a row...? So much for spreading BS about 10nm. They tried and yet again they failed.
