MSI's RX 5700 XT Evoke OC gets reviewed versus the Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse & AMD reference. Go to or text GAMERSNEXUS to 500500 to get a free Audiobook, 2 free Audible Originals, and a 30-day free trial. MSI's RX 5700 XT Evoke OC is here (Amazon): Sapphire's RX 5700 XT Pulse on Amazon here: In this benchmark and review of the MSI RX 5700 XT Evoke OC, we're looking primarily at thermals, noise, noise-normalized thermals, and gaming performance versus the stock RX 5700 XT Reference and Sapphire RX 5700 XT Pulse. The MSI Evoke OC uses a champagne/gold-colored shroud with a dual-fan design, but also pre-boosts the clock higher than stock clocks are configured. MSI's Evoke OC should be priced a bit higher than the Pulse, likely at 430 to the 410 of the Pulse (and 400 of the RX 5700 XT Reference, but we'll see where pricing falls once it's all listed. We have a new GN store:

I'm very disappointed in MSI here. I don't dislike the color, but it looks like MSI focused more on making it LOOK nice rather than actually focusing on optimizing accoustics and thermals. The tiny bit of extra performance is completely un-interesting. The Sapphire Pulse is just by far the best AIB card for the price (so far. This card from MSI seems to offer the worst value so far, but I definitely wouldn't go for any of those cards that are priced even higher, as they offer very little over the Sapphire Pulse for what they cost. While these premium boards which cost 30-60 more than MSRP are still offering better value than a 2070S (especially vs. premium versions of the 2070S, which ALSO go for at least as much over MSRP, you should probably just wait until you can find a good version of the 5700 XT for between 400-420. If Sapphire can offer such an excellent card for 410, it should also be possible to get one which is still good for even a little bit less than that, but if you CAN get the Pulse for 410, it's probably the best choice. Hopefully there will be at least one other version from another brand which is equal to the Pulse, but we're probably not going to see anything better than that. The one thing MSI has going for it is that it has the best warranty policy. It doesn't require that you show any proof of purchase, and they officially support transferable (used) warranties, which adds more to the resale value. Sapphire's warranty is only good for the original owner. However, I'm only talking about North America here, I don't know what their respective policies are in other regions, though I suspect that it's a similar story in most other areas.

Interesting prices. Where I live the MSI Evoke 5700XT OC card is currently the second cheapest non-reference 5700XT card you can buy, only beat by the MSI Mech 5700XT OC version which is 40 less. The Mech is also just 15 more expensive than the cheapest blower style 5700XT. Meanwhile the Sapphire Pulse 5700 OC squeezes in right between the Mech and the Evoke, costing two or three dollar more than the Mech. Note that this is the plain 5700 OC and not an XT version. The Sapphire Pulse 5700XT OC is about 10 more than the MSI Evoke. So if choosing between the Evoke and the Pulse the extra 10 is well earned. But compared to the Mech it's not quite that clear. If you are even looking at the cheapest possible 5700XT it's hard to ignore a 50 difference in price, and given the less than stellar overclocking we've seen so far the temps is not that much of an issue. Fan noise however can be an issue, and so could the looks.

Hi Sir Steve! My name is rigo from the philippines, And I am a fan of gamers nexus. I would just like to ask for your opinion for this, if the MSI rx 5700 XT Evoke is really bad to buy for a home gamer and game streamer like me. Actually I am still choosing between the MSI evoke or MSI MECH I was really sad and disappointed when I heard some people say that the evoke is trash, or not a good card to buy. Because These was the cards that im wishing to buy for upgrade which fits my budget best for my next salary. Ive been checking this every time in the mall. Hoping for your feedback, Thank you and god bless!

If there is anything I've noticed comparing MHz overclock in the last few years, especially with AMD, 100-150+ MHz overclock sounds great on paper but barely makes a dent in FPS. I sometimes push my MSI Gaming RX 580 just to keep some games above the lower threshold of my monitor's freesync range. That is a valid use case, otherwise, I stick with the default OC speed and sometimes down clock. I will play old games occasionally and I can officially say, Half-Life 2 doesn't need 1440MHz. I do hope they make a Gaming X or Z version, otherwise I might go Strix.

Arent the anniversary editions actually a better bin (which the evoke is) so its not just luck of the draw? I dont think you mentioned that its an anniversary edition at all. That probably explains the color choice a little bit and maybe the slightly higher pricing. Even if you decided the difference of the normal and the anniversary edition is too small, that this one is the anniversary edition should still be mentioned imo. That being said, just the thermals with the noise would probably make me buy the sapphire anways.

Boys, why s my PC very occasionally blue screen? My CPU is good and cool, no visual artifacts from a bad GPU either. It boots up slow as hell even though I put an SSD in it (it booted super quick when I first got it 6 months ago) wondering why the boot slowed down so much even though I just downloaded steam games nothing else with no real internet use. Could this be my RAM? Maybe motherboard or power supply? Any knowledge would help, about to upgrade to a 5700 dont want it getting messed up from a faulty part

here in europe AMD shitty launch with their new cards. 2 months ago when AMD launched rx 5700 cards with (shitty)blower style coolers and it takes even longer for companies to come with their versions of cards and to be honest Why do shops lack the amount of new graphics cards to sell? Nvidia is much faster with this! This year could be the year AMD gain some ground graphics cards but sadly it looks like AMD is screwing themselves with the shit launch of these cards!

One thing I noticed is the 1% and 0. 1% lows on the Navi cards is worlds ahead of the RTX cards that sport a better overall FPS, but massive degrading in performance in the low end, at least in certain games. I'd like to see frame time comparisons to the RTX and RTX Super cards to see why there is such a drastic dip in their performance vs the Navi cards.

pulse and evoke seem to be the only cards shipping to Australia and they both look hideous for different reasons. largely not being monochrome shrouds/backplates. in my case i have rog motherboard and currently 1080Ti. so obviously i need the red devil because asus forgot half of the rog 5700xt's backplate. but powercolor copied it properly
