We matched RTX 2080 performance by putting the RX 5700 XT under liquid nitrogen, but learned that we're memory limited. Sponsor: Buy Be Quiet! 's Straight Power 11 PSUs (Amazon - Stream archive: We're recapping our extreme overclocking results with the RX 5700 XT AMD reference card. In our livestream, we used liquid nitrogen to push the card to a SET frequency of 2469MHz (as opposed to GET, which was closer to 2409MHz. The memory was one of our challenges, as we couldn't drive temperature lower without a memory heater. We also need more voltage and power, something that additional softmods or hardmods will fix. We have a new GN store:

I guess I got a silcon lottery winner bc I get 1900mhz under load on a reference card with no adjustments whatsoever. It's cool quite and FAST. I do get 2. 1Ghz steady with the fan blowing full and the meager +50mv afterburner currently let's u give these cards. Not worth it imo tho considering the noise, extra power draw and not a very good ROI when comparing performance increase relative to the frequency increase. On a side note. I do have a well ventilated case and if I crank up all my case fans my system overall stays relatively quiet and it runs right around 2ghz with no extra voltage or any higher GPU fan speed. Anyway, these cards absolutely kick a imo and in performance per dollar. Not only that, but a LOT MORE GAMES support Radeon Image Sharpening or RIS than do Ray Tracing or RT. Aka, more games look their absolute Best on these cards. As a bonus, you still get phenomenal performance as opposed to tanking the out of it

I literally just did a thermal pad swap on my Sapphire Reference 5700xt. -10 Celsius difference at full load. hit 2124mhz system clock. At 80c! ON A REFERENCE MODEL. No over clock. No under-volt. 3600rpm STOCK cooler and shroud. All P. C. I. E. 4. 0 components. (what is CURRENTLY available anyhow) side note: I did place max Mhz on SCLK to 2150 only on afterburner Apparently, I won the lotto last week when I bought an open box RX5700xt at 339. 96 USD. (pre tax) As I type this running 39c, All air system and 7 fan case. I have 7. 1 surround sound headphones. Change my mind on how loud reference NAVI is at 52% or so fan speed. I cannot hear you for my headset is too loud with the optical out. HA!

I know because of cost no one really 'regrets' not buying the 2080 ti and it's price to performance is really nothing to brag about. But I have to admit. It's really gratifying seeing how far ahead it holds itself compared to everything on the market no matter what you do, overclocking, extreme overclocking, custom PCBs, whatever. Stock 2080 ti is still a mile ahead. I recall launches in the past where the flagship ti's were 'better' by a fair margin, but it was possible to push a lower card past a stock version, without resorting to extreme overclocking.

I agree that it's a great card as I see from the benchmarks. But my RX 5700XT is giving me problems. I'm getting a very low core clock and very low fps on Battlefield 5. I uninstalled the previous drivers and installed the latest, I still get the same results. I'm was happy to have a nice card from AMD, only to be let down by terrible performance which is weird (Hopefully it's just a driver, not the card itself because I voided my warranty by modding it with NZXT Kraken G12) Was expecting to be like the benchmarks. I hope someone can help me on this.

Actually, for me, the game I'd want to see tested on a 5700XT, is Final Fantasy XV. According to Square's own numbers, stock for stock it does worse than a geforce 1080, let alone a 2080. Considering the eventual PC release of Final Fantasy VII remake will invariably use the same engine? Yeah, it's rather important. It makes me wonder if it's a driver issue or something inherent to Team Red. At least going by Square's numbers, the Radeon VII, for 300 more, actually does worse still (looking strictly at 4K High.

So this is pretty cool, but how come that for instance the Red Devil 5700XT, which can run stable at 2000+mhz while gaming is barely any faster than the standard 1750mhz 5700XTs in gaming? I was under the impression overclocking wasn't worth it at all on these cards because of those results. For some reason this 5700(xt) launch is pretty confusing in terms of performance and overclocking to me. Might also be the sleep deprivation talking though.

Love the 5700xt i got one, with a waterblock they are GREAT. The bad thing, like allways with AMD. drivers. OMFG i get like an green screen on a daily basis. With an ATImkdiag whatever error and it goes to restart the pc, and like black screens in games. Ah well like with ALL AMD cards i hope it gone with a driver update 4 MONTHS from now.

Sorry for the question but woudn't a 5700XT focused for overclocking with LN2 be better for this kind of tests? I was watching buildzoid's video on the 5700XT Strix and he was talking well about it in terms of heavy overclocking so i thought that if you use it in the future, would it bring considerably better results?

Okey great. Ill buy a 5700xt. And all the extra stuff to also be able to do that. Lol no i wont. Buying a rtx 2070 super is more cheaper. And saver. And it will be a better buy xD But fun to see that this thing can actually do something. If you mod it to hell.

Bring in buildzoid to solder on better memory controller, bring in igor to write up a more aggressive power table, bring in joe to run the ln2, bring in ilya and vince to talk shit, bring in derbauer to talk shit and apply paste, have a party, beat the 2080.
