The XFX RX 5700 XT THICC's cooling is as much of a meme as its name. We're benchmarking the THICC II Ultra 5700 XT GPU today. Sponsor: Buy PowerColor's Red Dragon Radeon RX 5700 on Amazon) MAIN CARDS TESTED: XFX RX 5700 XT THICC II Ultra (Amazon): Sapphire RX 5700 XT Pulse (Amazon): Sapphire RX 5700 XT Nitro+ OC (Amazon): Gigabyte RX 5700 XT Gaming OC (Amazon): MSI RX 5700 XT Evoke (Amazon): The XFX RX 5700 XT THICC II Ultra has become a bit of a meme -- well, actually, it started that way -- but it's still an expensive, theoretically high-end RX 5700 series video card. Unfortunately, the performance ends up low on our charts, so part of this content will look into why that is. The XFX 5700 XT THICC has fierce competition from cheaper alternatives, like the Gigabyte Gaming OC, Sapphire Pulse, and Sapphire Nitro, and needs to deliver competitive cooling and performance to outmatch the alternatives. We have a new GN store:

Imho this review was too harsh. ITS obvius that's there's something you don't like from the start. may be the fact that you had to pay for it or something but ihmo this was still to harsh. The Price may be high for it. ok the temps may not be the best ( even if with 1900 rpm ish as you said they were ok even if it was louder) The card is not really thicc but its almost all plastic and less heatsink. You may not like the meme name BUT still you flamed them in a bad way. Idk what's wrong lately but i feel like you are a bit conceited like if you feel obbligated to do something. The evoke had his flaws and not ''easy'' ones but you were not like this. Im not an hater neither a fan of xfx in fact i disliked that card even before the review just watch carefully how you do stuff if you really want to do them. ps: i know some people having the card and not having these issues and yea a bit on the loud site, but perfectly fine temps even if the pulse was better it's still more than usable as a gpu.

Half the time while running Unigine benchmarks, my Radeon 7 reports no load, 23W power use, etc. Still a nice card on water but AMD declaring it end of life 6 months after launch was a load of hit. I like the 16GB for certain experimental things and potential for extreme texture mods in some games but damn I don t know if I can buy a flagship from AMD ever again. CPU is a 9900k for single core performance in Civ5, KSP, etc. So I gave them a chance on the GPU and they found creative and innovative ways to suck

Same sort of issues with Radeon VII. AMD are trash at writing drivers. 20. 2. 2 (whql) somehow didnt have control over card power at all. card freaking out at desktop, and staying at 500mhz at 3840x1600 ultra in game. Just not good enough, and now I can't get my all money back or a replacement RVII. I'll probably get a partial refund to cover a 5700XT and have the same experience, and never buy AMD again.

The last XFX cars I bought were the wild looking 7970 s back in the day. I loved the way they looked and they did ok in crossfire/efefinity on 3 large format screens. The top card suffered pretty good heat bloom from the bottom card; even in a well ventilated HAF-X case with plenty of the correct fans. This new card looks really nice though. They should be hired by AMD to do their stock line up lol

I think XFX would of seen similar results. I guess once you've gone so far into engineering something you gotta sell it? I'm not sure how all of that works, but you'd think internal testing would of told them their cooler was rubbish and find a better solution. Spending extra cash for a garbage cooler and a big ass GPU that doesn't look very good, dunno what XFX was thinking.

Nice review but at the same time it blows my mind. I have the same exact card that is the most stable card I have ever owned and I cannot get it to go hotter than 71c. Did you reach out to XFX to see what they could do for you? With mass production things can happen. Anyways with a 3 year warranty I'd reach out to them and then do a follow up. Just a suggestion.

Apparently this bad review is stuck in peoples heads so much, that they now shit on the new XFX RX 5700 model that isn't even that bad. And since the THICC card isn't available anymore (at least here in germany, a follow-up video would be nice. Although there might be little to no interest in it since the launch of the RX 5700 was quite some time ago.

Funny thing is this card is tearing it up for me and has been since I got it. I don't know to much about all the lingo but I can comfortably say this card is performing better than expected and I cant be happier. It is bizarre to me that it is getting bashed the way it is. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to play current games at their best.

As soon as he chucked the fan plate and it made this horrible plastic-y sound, I was instantly turned off from this card. It looks great, but all the plastic chrome makes it seem really really realllly cheap like the cheap knock off chrome plated devices from way back, when Chrome was the RGB stigma we have nowadays.

Gamer Nexus logic Good is passable but not recommended Amazing is good Mediocre is bad (And if your bad you better not cross paths with Steve) The XFX THICC2 is the only card in stock atm for it so it's either it, reference, or bust.
