we're talking about AMD's VBIOS change for the RX 5600 XT and how it has more deeply impacted its supply chain than we previously discussed. We're using this opportunity to recap the manufacturing supply chain and product development timelines, alongside some memory overclocking concerns (e. g. going from 12Gbps to 14Gbps and the impact that has on production.

Very good content! One recommendation I can give everyone is DONT buy the Asrock challenger versions of the XT cards. GPU sagging, my card vibrating so hard the whole case was vibrating including my motherboard. (I was afraid for my socket) Thinking the fans might need to speed up and settle a bit, I ran moved them up slowly until 30 procent then decided to go to 50, once at 50 one of the fans got instable and ran itself into the heatpipe behind the shroud and destroyed itself. 6 weeks into the process of RMAing it or getting sent new fans by Asrock I still havent gotten a reply after my last email 2 weeks ago. Decided to put on a Arctic fan solution and I now own a card that costs as much as a 5700XT almost because of having to fix the problem myself. Back in the day I used to run AMD all the time, spent a few years on random laptops both AMD and Intel based ones, built a new full AMD computer after reading much promising reviews. I am probably cured, and will be buying Nvidia again next time, maybe even this month to replace this GPU with, because the drivers are literally driving me crazy. I can't get a fan profile to hold, neither through adredaline nor Afterburner or alternative - In a lot of cases any anti aliasing settings etc will not apply to games at all, to a point where I had screen tearing so bad I quit playing the particular game. Great CPU, I love the 2600, I was on a tight budget and didn't want to go too crazy on the CPU since the 2600 is more than I need with a AIO and some overclocking. Very, very bad card - I don't know if its directly Asrock's fault when it comes to the card, but when it comes to them handling the support, they could have done a lot better. Thanks for all the info!

This comes on the heels of class action suit in California. The court ruled that a visit to AMD site to look at the 8 core FX 8350 resulted in AMD misrepresenting the number of cores on that CPU. AMD tried to convince the court that if consumers would look at the core count as AMD does, they would end with 8 cores. The court ruled that AMD was unreasonable in arguing that consumers had to see it like AMD did. 300 is the top payout/refund, which would ease financially the purchase of a real 8 core CPU. That's fine, but it does nothing for my psychological wellness, that AMD did lie to me and everyone else in this situation with some of us spending an amount of money that is slow coming and the dollar purchasing less each year. I have always supported AMD. My thinking was if there was only one video card manufacturer, the cost of that video card would be, maybe 30 - 50% more at least. I remember when the RTX 2080 came out. I just wanted to spit. After seeing your video I was speechless. I'm losing trust in these companies that are actually abusing consumers and high 5 all around. They have finally turned into politicians! They disgust me. I owned a machine shop for 30 years. I had customers that were not reasonable I would get rid of them by doing what AMD did. How to respond to AMD is the question. Please, how should I go?

I'd love to know why Radeon Technologies Group is so bad at launches. I remember the RX480 launch vividly, when I was looking forward to upgrading from HD 7850. They'd announced it like 6 months prior to when it was supposed to launch, and I even pre-ordered it. Then it got delayed (at least in the UK) due to inadequate supplies. Meanwhile, just 1 month before the planned release date of the RX 480, NVIDIA announced the GTX 1060, which as far as I'm aware wasn't even rumoured. They launched the 1060 within 2 weeks of announcing it, with plenty of board partners and models with very reasonable prices, most good ones at MSRP or even slightly below. I cancelled my preorder and bought the 1060 a couple of days after launch and received it shortly after. The card lasted me 3 years and overclocked to 2 GHz without breaking a sweat, never exceeding 74c and fan speeds below 70%. And this was one of the cheapest models available. Meanwhile AMD took what, 1 year to recover and be competitive in terms of pricing and performance when they re-launched the RX 480 and called it the 580. Let's not even talk about how the 470, 570, 580, 480, 580 2048, 590 etc. were all basically the same, near as makes no difference.

I am one of the people that builds a computer every couple years. I was coming from an hd6870 if that gives you a point of reference. Every review outlet was recommending the 5700xt as the card to go for with builds in the 1000ish dollar range. I bought one and was sorely confused as to why all the PC gaming reviewers were recommending this card. Driver issues galore and some driver updates broke things that worked previously and I even found myself having to turn off KEY FEATURES of adrenaline (enhanced sync I am looking at you) just to get games to launch. Needless to say I got to experience Amazons return process and shelled out another 100 dollars to get a 2070 super that I only had to install drivers for once and everything worked. Hopefully when I upgrade again in 5 years AMD will have their cards figured out.

Everyone is so narrow minded about AMD just because for a brief moment in time their cpu's are faster but a PC is a sum of all its parts and all i hear from newegg, walmart and amazon reviews is not comparable with AMD wont run on AMD mobo's crashes on AMD based boards with intel i know im going to get excellent class of mobos from EVGA, ASUS, MSI and GIGABYTE. ive also been hearing that the latest gen of Samsung SSD which are dominating the market have issues with AMD mobos, they crash, won't be recognized or simple disappear from windows when trying to access them right now Intel cpu's are not the best but they are the best when it comes to being compatible with other parts in the market that are the best, AMD has a lot to learn about SYNERGY!

The real issue is AMD is trying to offer similar performance for a price similar to what Nvidia charges. They don't have the track record, reputation, or driver quality to do that. How many years has it taken for them to gain the reputation they have in the CPU market? It's almost like they feel that that reputation translates to the GPU market and it mostly doesn't. In order to build that reputation, they first have to convince people to try their hardware. It had better be rock solid hardware and driver software too. This hasn't been the case at all. I'm cheering them on, but given a choice between an AMD or Nvidia GPU at the same price and performance level, it would be Nvidia every time as things now stand.

Could have just made a 5600 XT+ or XTX or something else, like made it two different cards. Release the essentially higher binned 5600XT with those specs. But like prepared it after, as a proper response with it's own release, and then adjusted pricing. Would have taken a bit of time to plan and release but that's what they should have done if they really wanted to do this. It's not fair to board partners especially. It's annoying as a customer but that's especially shitty towards the people designing and manufacturing cards. But if they're so concerned about Nvidia price drops, then just drop the price of your card too instead. That way you're only pissing off reviewers last second.

I hope you make a Why AMD video after this, Nvidia did this, not AMD. I mean, its not like AMD upgraded their previous specs for FREE, and made Nvidia drop the piece of one of their own cards is it. I mean, if they don't do this, Nvidia is the better deal, they was FORCED to do this. And the partners will be fine i'm sure, i mean this is a business, and they are doing this because doing this means they will sell more hardware. Its not entirely what partners do already is it, once they get a hold of one of the GPUs, just slightly overclock them. Oh, yeah, these cards are so good, their partners are going to get even more from them, did you forget to mention that?

It's so cool that you guys are doing that Steve. Thank you very very much. It's beyond sad what Australia's wildlife has had to endure, and the people getting the money are normal poor Aussies who love animals more than almost anything. giving up their time and own money to fund what they do, normally without acknowledgement or praise. I know everyone thinks us Aussies are rich, but the people on the front lines are just normal poor people with jobs like everyone, and everything you guys can do to help them pay for basic stuff actually matters. So Thank you to everyone who felt enough to donate. It helped. massive smiley face!

My next computer build will be AMD. More bang for the buck. Clear winner. As much as I would like to use an AMD graphics card to give competition to Nvidia, I can not justify it. Drivers are unreliable. I use Kdenlive. Solid with Nvidia, occasional crash with AMD. AMD draws a lot more power for performance, compared to Nvidia. While I'm not concerned with the power draw as such, I am concerned about the extra heat. I have a minimum income and cannot afford to replace parts like I used to be able to. I need reliability with whatever I build. Heat is an enemy.
