I'm usually on GN's side. But, this time, I strongly disagree with GN. The extremely harsh criticism on the matter of the 2 additional fans is very unjustified. It's not about buy two additional fans . It's about use the 2 fans which will come with your AIO anyway .
Hyte is pretty clear in the marketing that this case is built for AIOs. They write the max height of the radiator just to make the life easy for all those 12 people who will use it with an air cooler. Why would they complicate things, on purpose, and loose a couple of potential clients when it costs them... nothing (an additional line in the manual)?
Considering GN's frequent remarks about sustainability, avoiding single-use plastic, and other environmental subjects. I would have expected an actual praise from their side for building a case which doesn't force you to throw away 2 perfectly good fans in the first 10 seconds after unboxing. The standardized test here is a very wrong tests. It smells like lazyness from GN. All the video is about testing the case with an air cooler. No liquid cooling tested at all. Followed by a conclusion at the end : lancool 3 is a better choice for liquid cooling .

They cut costs to lower the pricepoint which is good but they did it in a very foolish way. A lot of the marking and design for their logo is a huge expense on every case as it adds not only the design and material cost but also a step for each part having to go through. It seems they are going for the Feng Shui aspect over functionality. Thats something you throw money at and not use for cutting costs. If they wanted they could have cut most of the design additions including the branded foam, marked fans, inner back plastic design. They should have done that and added needed fans or atleast remove the fans all together cause if you have to get fans then you might not use the ones included in favor of the new fans and cohesive design. I would like to see a optional removal piece under where the side fans/radiator is so you can have more room and even allow better unimpeded air flow. Also would have made it where the filter would have been pulled from the front instead of pulling to the back. The front underside fan should be way more forward as thats just a lot of wasted space.

I recently built a PC with this case. 12600KF, 4070 Ti Tuf, 240MM AIO Asus. The fans are 3 Thermaltake Toughfan 12 RGB (the ones with the RGB Frame), 2 on the rad mounted on the side (exhaust), and 1 on the back as exhaust as well. Additionally, i had an Arctic P12 from an old build and i swapped the fan of the psu shroud with that one. Effectively i have a negative pressure setup, with only 1 intake fan on the bottom and the rest as exhaust. I have to say, i dont have any temperature problems, perhaps the issue with this specific set of tests is that you used an air cooler, and i understand you must keep your standard for reviews and that's ok, but i feel this case with an AIO is a different story, it make sense that when you removed the CPU load of the equation, the GPU temps were lower in your tests, with an AIO you basically mimic that test (because the cpu temps are irrelevant for the internal temperature of the case). Anyway, i am really pleased with this case and its thermals, but yeah, with your specific tests it sucks and makes sense why.

What a bummer for that case, especially on the heels of the Y60s fairly decent reception. I think if all the plastics were replaced with brushed metal, it would look better and it would reflect the heat, rather than absorb it. I hate cases that use too much plastic. It looks cool, but that thermal compromise, geez! I just got a Fractal POP XL Air Black (previous case was Cooler Master 932 HAF) and it came with 4 fans, YES 4! With those fans, 3 front 1 rear and my 2 radiator fans, 120 Vardars for custom EK loop (mounted to the top as exhaust and a 240 rad between), my temps don't get that high. I attribute it to a standard flow front to back design and the fact that there is very minimal plastic, lots of room for the internals and airflow, cable management and it is not cheaply designed and I paid just over 100us +tax. The Y40 is more expensive, restrictive and looks cheap. Avoid!

Owning a Y40, I definitely agree with some of the points about airflow being average. I was getting ready to get roasted by the review for my choice over the Y60 (extra graphics ventilation was the main choice for me), but it wasn t as bad as I expected.
The system copes pretty well overall with a full complement of fans and a side mounted 240 AIO. The lack of full height expansion card support is a bit of a pain considering I wanted to get a Thunderbolt 4 card, but I have a few ideas of how I can mount one behind the graphics card vertically
I5-13600k
MSI Ventus 3X RTX 3080ti
2x16gb Corsair Dominator 5600
4xThermaltake Pure 12 ARGB fans
Thermaltake TH240 ARGB AIO
Thermaltake GF3 850w
I ll add some temps later

With more and more cases in this style coming out Hyte needed to be more competitive with the Y40 and not less. They missed. --- I'll probably have a few built-to-order customers who want this case but it's likely that I'll steer them away. Side mounted intake fans have the ugly side facing in and I have concerns about some AIOs reaching the CPU with the proper tube-down configuration and/or the tube routing looking terrible (which matters on a nicer build). Custom water cooling makes little sense in this case, due to the spacing up top, which is really a shame.

For as much as was made about the lack of side fans and how the bottom intake fan setup is sub-optimal, I'm surprised you didn't try just moving the two included stock fans to act as side intake and see how much of a difference that makes. It's already mentioned that the bottom intake isn't doing very well, and the rear exhaust fan is where the air would be exhausted by the CPU air cooler anyway, so the loss of both might be trivial against the gains from the side intake. And if that truly was the case, then it makes Hyte's design decisions even worse.

The exact moment I saw the case, I figured thermals wouldn t be that great at stock configuration. The bottom fan (even as intake) doesn t seem to be effective for any case with similar layout. I d just treat it as dust magnet if anything TBH. Would have preferred the case stayed as dual chamber. It d at least allow a more effective bottom fan configurations.
Or otherwise, I d love if they had made a revision to the Y60, allowing more gap between 3-4 slot GPU to the glass panel.
That s the only thing I find lacking for the Y60, personally.

With all the branding everywhere and price, it would have been nice if they d focused some of the budget for that on, oh idk, making sure the design worked thermally.
The hype that companies like Hyte push behind products like this often ends up resulting in disappointment. I m glad you guys called them out on the potential downfalls of over-prioritizing a customer experience. Fractal, Lian Li, and Noctua are great examples of companies that have a sense of reserved confidence in their marketing, with an emphasis on engineering.

Bought hyte y40 couple weeks ago and tried different air cooled fan configuration from what the official document says. Aside from the stock fans, I added 2 140mm fans on side as intake, 3 120mm fans on top with this configuration: rear top as exhaust, top mid and top front as intake.
This can create a positive airflow on the back of the GPU while creating negative airflow in front of the GPU. This negative airflow help cooling the GPU although not significant (1-2 celcius cooler compared to 3 top exhaust).

I have not used an SSD or mechanical drive in years, and neither have most of my PC friends, even at work now. So the lack of space for them would not bother me. If you are building a new PC these days with the new chips, an AIO liquid cooler is almost needed anyway, so I like cases that focus towards that. I would never buy this case for air cooling, but would seriously consider it if I was building a new unit and use a nice AIO. I guess this review doesn't help me with that thinking.

Actually bought a new case recently. I settled on Antec DF700 Flux. Its been 2-3 months now and I love this case. Doesnt matter how big a gpu gets itl always fit. Quite suprised uve never covered that case. Its an 85 case that can fit a 360 top or front. It also has a 2nd intake zone on the other side panel that an intake fan sitting under the gpu pulls air from the side panel. It even comes with a full RGB/fan hub. I dont think its gets much better value for money.

I agree with you; they should either include enough fans to cover all fan slots, or include no fans and just let the customer buy their own. Personally, I would go with no fans, I'll buy my own as I tend to replace stock fans with better ones, anyways, but other people may want to simply have all needed fans included. And yes; get rid of the excessive branding. One or two somewhere on the case is plenty, spend the money into making the product better instead.

Oddly enough, I fell into the odd no-mans land that the cae occupies. I needed to fit a 4090fe and a couple of expansion cards (wifi and sfp cards) while staying air cooled.
I certainly don't disagree that stock, the air flow is terrible but i knew that going in and budgeted for filling out all the fans slots with arctic fans and it has been a pretty good performer like that. Certainly not a great deal for most people though.

The half height slots behind the GPU is nothing but a gimmick, You can't put anything in them with the riser card cable that goes over the slots on the motherboard. The case has 1 useable slot if you use a GPU and the GPU uses it. You cannot use horizontal mounting for the GPU to fit in an M.2 expansion card which with the lack of space for more drives can be needed. I would say the slot setup is bad too.
