Got a 5.6 mm mechanical pencil today after the ladies at the local arts and crafts store went out of their way to get the warehouse to order one. Got them a small box of chocolates because it was exactly what I wanted, original and cost a fraction of what it would take with shipping if I were to order online. You want to give back to people who put in the extra mile to do their job right and do right by you. And it's the most reliable marketing because ppl figured-out corpo speak offers nothing. On a non-related note, I embraced the exhilirating promise of domination when I found-out that one manga about the eldrich elder-sister with tentacler hair so Pochi-Sensei kinda beat Thermaltake to it...

I've built PCs for people for years as a little side business/hobby, and it's always nice to see that there are big companies out there which are managing to do it properly themselves. It's not a high-margin business, or at least, it shouldn't be. For only $100 over the cost that it'd be for doing it oneself, I think that's more than fair, of course you have to actually include the cost of labor somewhere and not everyone knows how to/wants to build their own computers. Sometimes I read people's expectations online and they are ridiculous, no one is going to do this kind of thing entirely for free.

I have a special place in my heart for pre-built PC's because my first one was mediocre enough that it sparked my interest in building my own. My biggest hobby and computer engineering background was a result of my early 2000's Dell. That doesn't give them them the excuse to be non-functional or severely kneecapped out of the box due to error or cost savings. Thank you Steve for holding manufacturers accountable when corporations ignore their customer's best interests.

23:46 I'm imagining a scenario where this guy at the nzxt factory has been accusing people of stealing his markers for months now. He's pissed off a few of his friends and some people won't even talk to him anymore because he's accused every one of stealing them.
Imagine his horror if he saw this video and found out that he'd actually packed it in the accessories box by mistake and realizes that that's probably what's been happening to them

I don't think leaving XPO/XMP off should be held against prebuilt makers. It should be the default since it's such a tiny hit to performance but can make a huge difference to system stability.
Sadly, XPO caused my system to crash into a reboot loop. Gigabyte Gaming X AX Rev1.0 motherboard with 13600K and GSkill 7200 Ram. Had to revert back to the default ram timings to get stable. A buddy of mine had similar experiences.

$1700 for a 4070 super build.
Sigh...
To not fault of Thermaltake, but PC gaming is broke in terms of pricing.
4070 super is not even a very fast card. Honestly i'd go for the 7900xt.
20gb of Vram, vs 12. That alone. That alone.
You also on average get 20fps more.
but ray tracing
save up and get at least a 4080 and get ready for DLSS balanced for any hope of a decent gaming experience.

13:37 I have a 7800X3D and the amd 3d v-cache performance optimizer and my only options are update or uninstall. I cannot disable. Might be what happened here. Better to not install than when you can't disable it. Also I didn't even know I needed to disable this. Edit: I'm on Windows 11 24H2 (26100.2605) Edit2: I uninstalled and it reinstalled itself. Edit3: Oh you can disable the service... I assumed you meant the driver.

I honestly think most SIs are still embedded with INTEL due to customer perceptions. Gamers that build their own PCs know that Ryzen is good, but INTEL is still a way more recognizable brand to the unwashed prebuilt buying masses. Same reason they stick RGB on everything and use a totally unnecessary AIO on a 65 watt CPU. Water cooling = FASTER GAMING!

Genuinely good price for this actually. My usual recently is to buy my parts from Micro Center and use their build service; I've had multiple builds with motherboard problems and can't easily troubleshoot those at home. $100 over cost of parts is around half the Micro Center build charge, so this is actually pretty compelling.

12:39 I'm not sure if that benchmark result is from this specific system or just one with the same configuration. The screenshot says it was ran on windows 10 but the pre-built came with windows 11. Testing would be part of QC I'd imagine but there has been examples in the past where the defiantly wasn't the case lol

It's nice to see a mostly favorable pre-built report for a change. For a while it seemed like there were no good, let alone affordable, options for a competently built system. I'll have to check Thermaltake out...unless you're willing to send me that machine since it's an upgrade over my current dead one. LOL.

It's good but still not great imo, you can get a 7800X3D 4070 Ti Super combo for $1700 or $1750 if you can find a 9800X3D at MSRP, you get better RAM, PSU and NVMe as well
Spending $1700 and getting a 4070 Super isn't great, I'd personally rather get a 7600/X 4070 Ti Super for the same price

The LGCS guys aren't bad at what they do. I've got a year on an Avalanche 477t/Z790 because I HAD to have a new PC and didn't have time to get all the components myself. I like that everything on the Avalanche is off-shelf components. I added TT RAM to 64GB/5600 and a new m.2. That's it. Flawless.

Always loved Thermaltake. Specially their old cases, have ones from 10-15 years ago. Still as sturdy and wonderful as the day i bought them.
My 2 cents for ''the next round''; Faster RAM, its not that expensive. Lose the Vista name, its too negative feeling inducing of a name hahaha

I honestly didn’t know Thermaltake made prebuilts, thought they were just parts and not an SI. Looking into it Phanteks also does prebuilts. 100$ is very reasonable, I’d probably charge the same or even a little more myself depending on the LGBT lighting.

I got a skytech prebuilt recently with pretty much the exact same specs just a bit cheaper because 7700x instead of 7800x3d and it was also pretty much perfect and even came with XMP enabled. Maybe the prebuilt market is seeing a bit of a turnaround

Yes, Corsair purposely locks their motherboard Bios with ancient versions that just don't make any sense. Was really annoyed when I had a perfectly good motherboard from MSI and could not update the Bios to the latest version with bug fixes and improvements.

Not gonna lie... if Thermaltake saves 5 dollars by recycling foam from other products. Does not matter to me as long as it works. I think it is a good idea since then their will be less penny pinching on packaging. Use my trash can then their dumpster.

It's not acceptable that there's two headers not plugged in properly. One even caused bent pins. Anything else in the world you buy would get returned for something like that, the purpose is to buy a product completely built and it was not.

It would be interesting if instead of 'we attempted to find a system that we could review positively' - an unskilled person was given a budget and a role ('gaming PC', ...) and used any advertising specs on the website to pick.
