Gordon was one of the first people I really enjoyed watching/reading the content of in the field of PC stuff. His sass came through whatever media he appeared in, and you know it wasn't just pure malicious sass, instead being sass coming from a place of genuine care/concern for the average consumer.
I have a friend who looks a lot like Gordon, makes the same quippy jokes as Gordon, and is incredibly down to earth, and hearing of Gordon's passing just hits me in an odd way. I'll forever remember how unhinged Gordon was, all in the name of creating good and informational content. I loved watching all of the content between you guys, and I was always looking forward to the next time he'd get interviewed.
I wish I was in the financial position to support his family, but I will definitely contribute when I'm able to. He's made a mark on my life in ways that few have been able to.
Rest easy Gordon, I hope you're up there quipping at various markets and corporations on the other side :3.

Man, life's fleeting. every time i saw his vids, esp with you he seems to find the humor and joy in the mundane or corporately criminal. Besd wished to his friends and family..
Aside I've lived in the east bay and Oakland my entire 35 years and the last 2 decades or so the wildness of war on the streets and mayhem of sensless gang murder is not nearly what the diverse and hardworking people of Oakland want to be known for as its just like anyother big city, always watch urself in a bad street at night because u never know.. but its true Oak PD will stop if they See You GETTINGROBBED if you call it in ...best off be careful what u carry / have car insurance :] . The wealth gap has becomethe prodoninate issue with some of the rougher neighborhoods=downtown.. which uve seen steve, for that shtbag company called ''heres another reroll''. Glad to know that Gordon Mah was essentially my neighbor, and I could have known him.

I'm sorry for your loss Steve and to anyone that knew him personally. I followed PC World for a long time but wasn't an avid reader of their content. That's something I now regret as I let a legend pass me by and whom I know I would've learned a lot from in those moments. What's so telling about Gordon is that in the montage, every time you're around him your smile is literally ear to ear and you can tell the respect and love you had for this man. RIP Gordon.

Rest in peace Gordon. Life is fleeting, one minute someone is part of your life, next minute they’re gone. Nothing makes the shock of a close friend passing any easier to deal with. Even if you’ve accepted their illness and watched them deteriorate there’s still something in the back of your mind that makes you believe that they’re just a phone call away and that you’ll see them again soon. Sorry this happened Steve, stay strong dude.

Steve you chose the great mentor for what you do Gordon always seemed to enjoy being in your presence and respected your opinions. Having watched Gordon over years you have taken all his great attributes and used them in your own style. As long as you do what you are doing Gordon's work and teachings live on. I feel your loss please take comfort in the fact of his jewels of wisdom he was able to pass on to you. R I P Gordon Mah Ung

Such a shame to lose this amazing person. The first video I actually saw of him was the one with you in that restaurant, were he was getting exited and using some in proper language. That made me keep an eye out for him and later on also watch some of the content on PC World. Thanks Steve for putting this homage together. It must have been hard to keep your reporter cap on when it concerns someone close to you. Take care.

Man, this one hits hard. I'm just a PC hobbyist but I really looked up to Gordon, same as I look up to Steve. People trying their best to keep the public informed and the industry as honest as possible. Gordan is one of the tech reporting giants, and there's now a huge hole where immeasurable integrity used to be.
Thanks for making the video GN, not gonna lie my face did not stay dry.

Yeah this sucks, I grew up reading Gordon's stuff as well. I thought I read the headline wrong the first time in disbelief as I'm sure many others did as well. I have to laugh because I went into BestBuy the other day looking to buy a DisplayPort cable and another customer walked up to me and asked if I worked there. I wasn't wearing a blue shirt. Gordon you are missed.

I didn’t want to like this video, but I’ll do it for the algorithm. I also grew up reading Gordon’s work, and was incredibly pleased when I started seeing him on GN back in the day. I’m genuinely heartbroken that I won’t see any new content from him.
Thanks Steve, for sharing these moments with us, and for remembering him so fondly.

Thank you for this wonderful video. Gordon will forever be a legend in the PC world a true hero we’ve lost too soon. I sincerely hope any debts he left behind are forgiven. It's tragic that here in the United States, families often face financial devastation after losing a loved one to a severe illness. I truly hope this changes someday.

I had a very brief interaction with Mr. Ung based on a small comment i made about the snapdragon laptops and he was classy and unaffected by the hype, who else can we say that about in this space. And just the fact he took the time to reply to me says a great deal. Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Far out, no way. That's shattering news. My condolences to all. Such a great guy, straight up dude. Thank you Gordon for everything you gave us over so many years. This was hard to watch, I thought the title was clickbate or he retired, but man did it make me shed tears when I realised he has passed.

This really shows how much of his inspiration and effort is still strong in your work. Looking forward to the generation of investigators that you help inspire.
P.S. This made me go and call my parents to think them for all the great efforts and guidance they've given me over all these years.

It's the hard stuff that makes and tests character. Must have been difficult to make this video eventhough the decision to make it was a no-brainer.
Wishing everyone the best! Celebrate good memories and good times and try to hang in there when time get rough.
Merry Christmas!

An absolute legend of tech journalism and the tech world as a whole. His impact in this industry is simply immeasurable. He genuinely shaped the love for computer hardware of countless people around the world.
Thank you for everything, Gordon. May you rest in peace.

The admiration for Gordon is pretty clear in this video so if that was your goal, it was achieved. Friendships like that are rare so cherish the memories and hopefully one day when the pain is gone, you'll look back on them with fondness rather than sadness. Take care.

Steve I am very sorry for your loss and the loss that Gordon’s family is experiencing. I had gotten to watch several of the videos you did with Gordon over the years and they were always fun and informative. May he rest well knowing he won’t be forgotten.
reply

I am sorry for your loss, Steve. I just rewatched those interviews with Gordon not more than a week ago, and he was so knowledgeable and fun to watch/listen to. I am sure he will be missed far and wide. I will pray for Gordon and his family this Christmas.
reply

My condolences Steve.
Having lost 3 family members to cancer it annoys me to no end that as a species globally we spend the equivalent of trillions of dollars every year on weapons and maybe 1/10,000th of that on finding cures for various medical issues.

Gamers Nexus, I'm not into hardware like I once was, and that's not any reflection at all on you. That being said, when I want to see real journalism in this space, it's you I tune into. You're carrying the torch, don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
