NVIDIA is Selling Lies - RTX 5070 Founders Edition Review & Benchmarks

FBTwitterReddit

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
Sponsor: Montech HyperFlow 360 Cooler on Amazon https://geni.us/dWBIbF6 This review of the NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition video card benchmarks performance vs. the RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 4070, RX 7900 XT, 7900 GRE, and prepares for comparisons against AMD's RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 GPUs. The AMD RDNA 4 RX 9070 series cards launch tomorrow at $600 and $550 MSRP, matching the RTX 5070's $550 MSRP. We'll see if either one holds when it launches, but for now, we're focusing on some of the marketing lies that NVIDIA told during its presentation of the RTX 5070 GPUs. Testing MFG 4X vs. an RTX 4090 without MFG, we show that NVIDIA's claims of equivalence between the two are simply not true. It is intentionally manipulative and a misrepresentation of reality, unfortunately torpedoing what otherwise could have been a simpler launch review focused purely on performance. Instead, we get to talk about marketing BS.

We're going to have to get serious though, this is due to people wanting faster framerates at higher resolutions. I don't think hardware is ready for 240fps at 2160p, I know monitors have come out that go. Look, 4K at 240hz! Some things are pushing further ahead than other hardware is able to do right now and if insert frames by AI isn't doing it due to how image looks and extra latency. Then maybe it's time for us to reduce our expections and framerates and go. Maybe 4K at 60 or 120 is enough. And lower resolution if you want faster rates for competitive games such as 2K/1440p or even 1080p.
What Nvidia has done and I don't like what they've been doing as well as AMD in going into this with their own version is due to our own fault in demanding better performance per generation.
Personally, I do think the entire GPU market needs to slow down a bit and perfect what we got now than trying to add more. And that's with efficiency, lower power needed and get certain resolutions and framerates more stable at stock processing without anything added to it be it FSR/DLSS etc.
The 5070 sounds more like a 1080/1440p card.
The entire GPU industry needs changing, something has to change than follow Nvidia's lead. Just wish AMD was in the mindset to do that. Feel Intel is more in that mindset right now.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

These GPUs should no longer be considered a new generation, they are just 40-series Plus GPUs. (5070 = 4070 Super Plus/5080 = 4080 Super Plus/5090 = 4090 Super)
This is because they offer either identical performance to their 40 series counter parts, have performance uplift identical to their raw resource uplift (5090 has 30% more RAM/Power Draw/CUDA Cores and unsurprisingly exactly 30% more performance than the 4090). GDDR7 and the new AI features aren't enough to justify calling them 50 series cards, cause everything else is basically the same.
Nvidia has done this in the past where a new generation was made on the same architecture, but the last time they did this was in 2013 with the 600 series and I can't find information on how well/poorly that was received. Nvidia hasn't been doing this for over a decade and it should have stayed that way, people got used to performance uplifts with each new generation and the 50 series just doesn't do anything new.
These GPUs should never have been called the 50 series.

What settings did you guys use on Cyberpunk 2077 on the 1080p test I'm getting 142fps average with the benchmark test on my RTX 4070. No frame generation and no RT. DLSS set to quality. Everything else is set to max. Film grain, chromatic aberration, and depth of field are turned off. My CPU is a 58003DX with 32GB of DDR4 RAM at 3600 16T timing on an x570 Asus Tuf Gaming WiFi Plus mobo. I also have ReBAR turned on in Win10 Pro.
The reason I ask is that I want to see where I'm sitting against the 4070ti, but since I got 142fps average, I know something isn't set right. And just using straight up 'Ultra' setting turns the AMD frame generation on and if you turn it off it goes to custom setting.
I'd just like to get an apples-to-apples comparison with the settings being exactly what you guys have.

I advise any real gamer to buy a 7800xt, 7900 GRE, 7900xt or 7900xtx. They are no longer in production, not as many were made as NVidia. But they have pure raw performance and have more than enough vram to last you a long time and they dont have failing power connectors. about 99 percent of cards sent in for repair/warranty are all NVidia. These amd gpus i mentioned are going up in price for these reasons. Maybe wait to see if they go down in price after 9070 launch. Nvidia making new gpus for AI farms. Theyre focusing on AI power not raw power or gaming performance. They are aiming at the customers that buy thousands of gpus at launch. The AI farms that want the best of the best. Nvidia going where the money is, in AI and AI farms. Not gaming.

I really think this gen is proof that, for all the graphs and information we get, we really need more opinions.
What does it feel like to play with MFG Like wading through soup How does it look Like wading through soup head first We need a bit more subjectivity to go along with the objective facts.
If MFG isn't part of the argument, then the result is simple. Without RTX the playing field changes completely. But if you turn everything on and up to 11 at 1440 to 4K, which is what we all really want to do, what are the results, sure, but, more importantly, what is it like to play

This site continues to travel down the path towards tabloid media status. Nvidia didn't lie, you intentionally didn't listen to what they said and then once again go for the rage baiting. When Jensen said the 5070 performs like the 4090 he very clearly states which AI makes possible. Video is online for anyone to go watch themselves. That was an undeniable asterisk that some form of DLSS/framgen was being used.
Whether or not the 5070 is a good card is a different issue which is up to individual buyer. However, the only one lying here is Gamers Nexus, not Nvidia.

I'm going to let the video run, because I like and appreciate you guys and what you do. I'm going to be honest though, the video on the 9070xt is what I'm waiting for, just like the cards. I'm not buying NVidia's garbage this time. I've never had anything but an NVidia card and I'm really hoping the 9070xt can deliver the price that we're seeing, and a card that works as advertised. If it does, that's what I'm going for.

PC gaming is gonna die out due to demand destruction at this rate. Doesn't look like the 5060 TI is gonna break the mold with any value either so no stop gap this generation. I'm just gonna sit on my 1060 6GB for another 2 years and play indie. Hopefully this bubble has popped and poorly engineered trash gotten out of the system by the time the 60 series and new process rolls out.

Nvidia: 5070 has 4090 performance thanks to using AI/FG4. (fact)
Gamers Nexus: we are not gonna test FG4 so we can lie Nvidia is selling lies
I always use every new technology the GPU has. Why should I not use DLSS and FG when the GPU has that
I don't like the rise of psychopathy(and hate and rage and fanaticism) on the internet these days.

As i was telling to all ngreedia fanbots: the rtx50 will be even worse than 40 and it will age like yogurt left on the sun.
Get used to it, buy something else. But they will buy this anyways because marketing brainwash works on them, they are becoming like Apple zombies but when they will realize that It will be too late.

reply

And nothing will change. You will all continue to buy their products, they will continue to make more and more money, and tomorrow no one will remember this video. I seem to remember that there are some laws in your country, USA. False advertising, fraudulent consumer practice etc, why dont you do something about it

I think Jensen was disingenuous in the sense that maybe the 5070 plus all the A.I. stuff beats a 4090 without A.I. It’s possible that’s what he meant if I were to give him the benefit of the doubt. It’s something he should have mentioned specifically, people would’ve found it impressive anyways.

I am most excited for the 9060 XT. With 16GB, it will probably be on par with the 7900 GRE, but at a lower price and with a much better TDP. If we follow the price pattern of the 9070 series, which is $549/$599, we will probably see something like $449 for the 8GB version and $499 for the 16GB version.

Here is an idea:
Get your self a cheap laptop to allow you file your taxes / get some documents done / order stuff online -> then get a life and some friends smd stop pretending that those FPS matter at watching p0rn.
When all of those people are gone, pricess will go down to normal.

They want to highlight that 'AI' can get their entry level card can spoof the performance of their previous gen flagship, so that they can make profit from their main product (as an AI facilitator)
They won't need us gamers anymore(7% of their profit)
Dose anybody agree with this

I have trouble understanding corpo speak. Please keep the translations coming. ---> They said #$#! u gamers while doing cutesy 'deceptive' onstage shenanigans and saying nice things. (Yet it's sad actually that behind the friendly looking nice words are, just as you say, --> 'lies')

AMD has the chance to crush the gaming market this cycle by just having more Vram for a lower price. I really hope they listen to GN's video on how to win this cycle.
I think they did because initial reports are 9070 for $600
hopefully the reports hold through launch

Pet peeve: repeated charts where the axis keeps changing. Suggestion: order by aggregated performance, so Y-axis remains the same on successive charts. Then outliers and trends become easier to show. Maybe even add very subtle manufacturer colour as background to the grouped bars

I think we have reached the point that lying isn't a powerful enough word anymore. We need something that sounds just as EVIL as what they are actually doing irl.

From your charts a RTX5070 did beat RTX4090 in Wokon efficency by 0.01. It would have been more honest had Jensen said it beats a RTX3090. But is it me or did Jensen offer to give you a GPU for 4 elephants I wonder if anyone has tried to take him up on his offer.
