my question is why consumer routers and not edge routers I understand the EO is saying we should be making our own so we can prevent issues, but really the right to fix and ability to flash our own routers with firmwares would prevent most of the issues (even hardware issues honestly). Bottom line we need more open source and ability to mod, there are enough of us that are smart enough to pull together to maintain and ensure the security of our own networks, look at DDWRT, OpenWRT, Tomato, etc, we've been doing this for years. Problems come from the low information consumers (and voters) that buy crap from Temu. There is a need for regulation but the type of regulation is what we need to be questioning here.

Steve I would like to call you out on intentional intellectual dishonesty, two videos in a row now. You misconstrued Jensen's statement on war, and I don't see how it can be anything but intentional. He clearly started his statement regarding AI investment in the Middle East, acknowledged the war and said he expects the situation to resolve, and so is all in on [the original discussion topic] of AI investment in the Middle East. You can argue he supports war by actions or whatever else he does, believes, or says; but to flagrantly and continually frame his statement as being specifically all in on war is a lie. Please correct the record appropriately. Keep up the good work elsewhere and don't get dragged down.

Hey! Would love to see you cover a common but underreported issue with Asus Zephyrus laptops - the display cable failure. It starts as subtle screen flickering or artifacting when the lid is at certain angles, then progressively worsens until the screen goes completely black. The root cause is the eDP (display flex cable) running through the hinge area, which gets stressed and worn down over repeated lid movement. Some users have gone through multiple replacement units experiencing the same problem, suggesting it may be a design-level issue with how the cable is routed. Would be great to see a teardown or deep dive on this - a lot of Zephyrus owners don't realize what's happening until it's too late!

Threat Interactive's video is back up and a bunch of it was cut to put him in a better light. It's unfortunate that I didn't see this video before that one.
If he promises that TAA can be done better with vendor-agnostic code, so be it. I'm not immune to propaganda and I fell for it.
I do, however, agree that Nvidia's DLSS and AMD's FSR and all these vendor-specific implementations are a negative for the overall games industry that once standardized on FXAA or engine-level TAA/SMAA. There is an advertising side-effect that GN and many media folk have by noting the differences between one version of vendor pushed stuff. We used to revile Nvidia for Hairworks, what happened

Lead network engineer for critical infrastructure, here..., your take on enforcing US made routers is patently absurd. The DOD and DHS recommendation does not imply the government must control or have owning stake in any US manufacturing of routers. It merely enforces that businesses and citizenry must use U.S. made manufacturing as opposed to our adversaries building our critical communication infrastructure.
You are projecting your bias and liberal ideology onto your opinion, just like the other people you surround yourself with.

Chinese solar panels have been found to have unlisted parts which can act as a remote killswitch.
Chinese buses in Denmark and Norway had SIM cards for updates and troubleshooting... or disabling them.
Chinese cars are being investigated for the same thing.
When everything becomes connected to the IoT, the old phrase you can have security or convenience rings true evermore. Is it possible fearmongering Sure; but it's a lot harder to trust that the CCP has my country's best interest in mind over my own country.

I would appreciate if you could visualize a world in which we can turn things around in the tech/policy world and bring things drastically in the right direction. If you can't do that and believe we can win, then what are you doing it all for And that hopelessness will infect us. If you can visualize a way forward which is hopeful, including concrete things we can do which will get us there, then that will come across too, and you can really make a difference.

The council for Science and Technology is literally made up of tech CEO billionaires, only John Martinis is also a Physics professor (next to owning his private company). This is not about education or even science, just about corruption. The one thing that I would give the current US administration credit for is for not trying to hide it, but stating public-private collusion and corruption by continuously pandering to big business openly and officially.

Here's some interesting bits: Verge Aero, ScoutDI, and SiFly Aviation don't appear to be publicly traded companies. Verge Aero is a drone show company, and ScoutDI is a Norwegian manufacturer. Mobilicom is an Israeli manufacturer that is publicly traded. Mobilicom is currently up 230% over the year, with the height 540% back in Sept from it's April 2025 stock value. Interesting how a few drone companies got damn near IMMEDIATE conditional approvals.

I like when Steve destroys some cheap squinty f_boy (I mean fudge, fudge, nothing wrong with liking fudge) on the internet - more - than when he destroys Jason (which is what Steve has been doing for like ages... since the Iron Age or something).
I immediately give like to Steve - when he destroys some weirdo somewhere who claims some madness. But I don't think Jason deserves all the hate Steve gives him. But that's his hate to give.

Not that I don't think you have a valid possibility on the router control, but unfortunately there is the Huawei precedent. I work in a telecom company, and they are still working on removing Huawei equipment because China's CCP decided to inject hardware links to be able to spy on communications. So we have an example of a foreign nation placing alterations on hardware that will try to spy or control what information we see.

great news update as always. I cant help but literally laugh out loud at 'ThreatInteractive'. It looks to me like Old mate appears to have spent far too much time on the glass pipe or something as reality is not matching the rants he goes on about in these clips when referencing GN. I get that maybe he's hoping for some kind of strysand effect promotion boost ... but, dude.... learn about Comprehension and cognitive disonance

Slop Interactive is that kind of ally that does more harm than good to any cause. It's the same kind of mentally absent individual that sends death threats to developers thinking they're doing anything other than actually help the people pushing for surveillance. Sometimes I think it's easier to deal with smart opposition than... Whatever the hell these people do on a regular basis to help your cause.

Now they will take everything that it has stolen through the public use to put out a only accessible to corporations AI that uses that same database to replace the creative arts and take over the last free source of income for the little guys.

Routers, drones, and other electronic devices are almost totally manufactured outside the US. Yes, let's try to get manufacturing back here, but the reality is that the best tech for those items is currently outside the US. This is all total BS and arbitrary control by a small power grabbing group of people, and it needs to stop.

Ever since Trump came back everything just gotten worse. He unleashed AI so now the AI slop and deepfakes are everywhere and hardware prices have skyrocketed. Let's not forget the supply chains of a certain far away war that is making other things worse. I swear some people just love shooting themselves in the foot and cheering it on.

If you understood what is at risk you might understand better. I am not sure it’s quick enough to fix things though. What can be done right now is very serious. With that said I agree only gov approved seems very bad for freedom. I am not an expert. I just know big things are seriously compromised. Question is who does what
