PinePhone - Using Linux Phone instead of Android or Apple - Chris Titus Tech PinePhone - Using Linux Phone instead of Android or Apple I am going over the Pinephone, the next generation of open-source phones that have no spyware and tracking like the traditional iPhones and Android Phones of today. It is still in development, but I got my hands on one and I have to say I am impressed

I'm fighting with Pinephone over my Linux phone that was never delivered and I've escalated it to PayPal for resolution. I rarely buy with PayPal because they've decided against me on shipping before. The company claims I gave an incomplete address but the real problem is they didn't tell me what carrier they're using beforehand so I know which address to use. They're also claiming the phone will be destroyed or abandoned. It's a Hong Kong company and I'm calling them on that lie.
I have a similar problem with Amazon deliveries but they've always made it right. I've been bitten a lot by Chinese companies but expected this company to be different based on reputation. I don't plan to be fooled again.

omg you can do everything you just did on android using a SDL or VM SDL I put Debian and koolbri on my android phone. you can also run opensource programs within android you can also remove programs that a not opensource its the same thing as android. android is Linux so I don't get why you don't think android is not Linux it is. you can run a Terminal and they have the same kernel you can even customize in the same way as Linux they even have the same mouse pointer some on

Let be honest
I would probably use Manjaro on phone with vnc rather than this
Pine phone is very laggy And bad compared to its price
Processor is not also not good in price range
You can buy a good redmi, samsung phone in this price range And use vnc or dual boot ( however dual boot will probably break warrenty so i recommended you to do this after end of warrenty

Sorry for my shit English

wow. no more imposed android BS?
you can actually CHOOSE what you want your OS to do?
only if it could be waterproof... not with that cap it won't be. i wish it had a waterproof design.
to be honest it would be possible to make a removable battery that isn't fully waterproof but prevents damage to the phone.
like a slot that doesn't let water INSIDE to the circuits.

Finally got one. Not quite ready to stop using my Android yet. I need some core functionality first. GPS, Bluetooth audio (via Lollypop), the dock (it came with one), better stability, full SMS/MMS support, decent call quality, updating and installing with terminal (without having to figure out how to stop the app store), YouTube (maybe).

Lack of MTP is a deal breaker right now. citing -security- when if you're a security conscious person you're not plugging it into rando-usb ports but want that speed and ease of use on your home computer, drag and drop files is just standard, irreversibly dropping the feature without allowing reversal is bs.

The whole computer on a phone business is kind of boring but the concept of Linux on a phone is much better. The terminal would need some work tho and a base application (sub kernel level) that's great to use for the keyboard would be super helpful for actually using a Linux os that you install

Thank you for not -unboxing-! Who cares about the box ?? As a owner of a merch business most people waste their money on -nice- looking packaging. Some products packaging literally costs more than the product itself. Why would people promote that BS

android is bloat af, some apps just takes unnecessary space and other just grow in space without i know it, this get me tired, i hope with mobile linux distro i can have more control of my device

Imagine all linux users would work on a linuxOS for phones. With everything we need for daily businesses. It would be very cool. I think it is just a question of time
