I downloaded and installed Linux Mint and ran it off USB stick to test it out, absolutely love the feel and design of the OS... and I'd switch in a heartbeat. But as a current After Effects and Photoshop user, it's a deal breaker for me to switch, running them in Wine you're not getting full performance of the softwares... Gimp still hasn't convinced me to switch yet. Though Affinity Photo is getting there but sadly doesn't support Linux and as for After Effects, haven't really found anything layer based software that does what I need yet. Once I can find those two things, i'm definitely going to make the switch away from Windows.

Hi chris, when I moved from windows to linux mint today, upon moving my TB Drive became read-only, from what I've gathered my entire /-partition has been mounted read-only. This usually tends to happen when the system recognises errors on the partition and remounts it to a read-only partition to further prevent 'damage'. I did try: umount /media/cov/'TB Drive' then: sudo fsck /dev/sdb2 but it didn't seem to fix anything when I remounted and tried to interact with the files on that drive. Any help on what to do going forward or is there anything I am missing? Thanks in advance

Hey Chris. Thanks for the video. I've got a high-end Lenovo workstation with a 4K monitor. The resolution is stuck at 4K and the icons and the texts are so tiny I can't even see them. I have installed NVidia driver, but I think the problem is that I have UFEI secure boot enabled. I'm not sure if disabling it is a good idea. I can't get past this point and I'm disappointed. Do you know a fix for this or can you point me in the right direction as to how to fix it? Cheers

So if I have a relatively modern AMD GPU, do I need to install AMDGPU-PRO driver from AMD's website or is it already built into Kernel 5.3? I can't seem to find a clarification for this on the Internet. I keep reading that the new Kernel already has built in support for AMD because it's gone open source, but AMD also provides a driver for Ubuntu on their website for Kernel 5.3... so it means the Kernel doesn't have it built in? Does anyone know?

Linux Mint is winning me over to become my first and primary Linux distro. (I have no plans to distro hop.) The question is whether to install the Ubuntu based version or the Debian based version. Is there enough of an advantage to starting with either of the distros to the exclusion of the other?

After watching a lot of your video's, I have bit the bullet and fully installed linux mint onto a spare hard drive I have and have it in priority boot. Going to watch all of these videos and force myself to learn it, thank you for these great resources!

Chris, I've just installed mint along side windows 10.....the graphics, speed and the overall look and feel of it is amazing. Yes It's going to take some getting used to but I am impressed. Thank you for your simple, plain and accurate instructions.
