I have a 2TB hard drive which has come up 'Unallocated'. I have been running the free version now for four hours. It's been showing 'Searching for lost partitions, please wait' for the entire time. Is it stuck? If not it would be great if the software could tell us more on what it's doing and it's progress. There is a bar about 5% across at the top of the page. If this is an indication on progress then it's a bit vague. I would have expected the software to have found lost files by now. Another 'not-so-free' software I ran for a short period of time at least found thousands of files and told me so.

I have a hard drive that now shows as -inactive- and according to Windows 10, I must format it before use. I do not want to loose all of the data I have on this drive. Do I first have to -quick- format the drive before I can use Disk Drill? Is there a way I can simply fix the partition/volume so that it is once again -active-? Also, does Disk Drill remember the folder / directory structure of the file and once again place the recovered file into the same directory structure it was in? Thanks!

I had a 2TB external drive get screwed up on me. I tried a couple of applications. Unfortunately, I waited over 5 hours for it to recover files and now it is dumping the restored files on a larger drive. It's saying it is going to take 445 hours to finish ! ! ! Are you kidding me. These are 45000 mp3 files. So the files aren't huge. Why is going to take that long to write them to another drive? Could load all my CD's up and pull the music off faster.

About the Pro version:-
Unlimited recovery-
----------1 user, up to 3 activations--------
Does -1 user, up to 3 activations- mean that I would be able to install the software on another computer at a different time? I need to recover lost files on my current computer, but I'm going to buy a new one in November. Will I be able to install the Pro version on the new computer as well?

Why are the -recovered- images unreadable by any program?! Diskdrill gave them the .png extension (as the original extension was .png), but not even Canva can open the files (saying it is corrupted. I speak of images that had been freshly deleted (ten minutes BEFORE I used diskdrill to -recover them-.) -

Is there no way to choose a specific type of file to search? like only audio files. I don't seem to find where to select that.

Having tried 4 different data recovery software, disk drill turned out to be the best of them all in terms of success rate.
