Why I Choose Free And Open Source Software DistroTube I'm often asked why I choose Linux over Windows and Mac. This is my answer. - https://my.fsf.org/join https://opensource.org/membership nimonater: Enhancing the lifespan of your devices with open source software is not only a great way to save a buck, but it also helps the environment as the production of electronics is quite resource heavy and produces lots of pollutions, toxics etc. Imaging a world where not everybody buys a new phone every year or two. Thanks to custom roms i can use my 5 year old phone with latest android and everything is perfect. Sadly now some manufacturers won't even let you unlock the bootloader of your phone. These devices are truly throw-away after 2 years, which is gigantic waste.

Can you make a video, dedicated to Windows Refund day? i am interested in this event. I know there is a lot of information and details and i can use google to figure this out for 10 - 15 minutes, but i would like to hear your point, your opinion, your take about what happened on February 15th 1999 was windows refund day. We both know that Microsoft was dishonest and dishonorable and never accepted and refunded the never used and never activated licenses for windows.

Fully Agree on all points, Derek :)
Presented very well, with good pacing of speech and good motivation as to why, per category.
Thumbs up.
(ps.. although for most, we still do often need a little bit of proprietary software, abeit free of charge, to have all our hardware usable under Linux distros (think firmware).
I hope this will change in the near future)

If I buy some music, I don't own the music. I only own the rights to listen to that music. If I try and modify the music I can, but selling it would land me in court due to copyright laws and rightfully so. I don't fully understand the logic behind thinking you should own the software. Sure, I could write a book without a copyright attached but why would I do that?

The big corps are preying on the good and successful opensource and softwares, Some company bought nginx yearly this year and God knows which is falling in the corporate hands next. Microsoft realised the importance of Linux and they came with the WSL. FOSS have a daunting task in the years to come.

Linux is unsupported. I'm not a programmer and this is not hate comment. I just CAN'T use Linux because I can't run applications. I can't even play games with Linux. If there is a way to run all apps easily tell me, please.

The first point is way wrong. You don't own the source, you get a license to modify and redistribute if you adhere to some legal rules, specially GPL licensed ones like the Linux Kernel.
