Testing in a VM will give you varying results for different distributions. Testing Fedora in a VM will show you nothing close to how it performs, because it is not optimized to run in VMs. Kali Linux or Black Arch on the other hand, are optimized to run in VMs. Kali even does a great job at creating spin-offs for different architectures and virtual environments just to optimize performance on those infrastructures.
You give detailed insight to Linux/linux-related topics. I use Konsole as my term emu, which is technically pretty bloated but it has alot of great default features. It essentially has tmux built in so you can have tabs, and it allows you to use different shells in each -profile-, which means I can set a keybinding to give me a fullscreen fish shell in the same Konsole instance and go back and forth between them. So I use Bash for everything by default, but when i'm working on a project I can quickly tab into fish since fish makes it quite a bit easier to nav files and directories. I can also have separate color schemes, which is just nice. Fish is light and Bash is dark. I figure if theres one program on my system I don't mind being slightly bloated its the terminal since I work in it 99% of the time, and Konsole really makes the whole multiple shells things pretty great.

One thing about the wifi issue is that when I've switched wm's after installing arco linux it will save the wifi password for the wm I've already been online in but not for the others. It may be the router thinks it is a different machine, might be an identity management feature for linux, don't know.
Also, sometimes the RTFM response can seem overwhelming, as just the gpp(iirc) man page was around 17000 lines of text by itself. While the answers may be there, they may still be a bit of work to find. I agree that hitting up the man pages and wikis first is the way to go though.

DT, you are right on target, concerning your distro -reviews-.Most of the fanboys are great technicians, but poor teachers. You come at many of your videos from the point of view of spinning up someone quickly, but with a breadth of knowledge on a topic, and sometimes go into some complexity on a thing that only someone familiar with it could fully appreciate. This is okay with me, and the right approach for someone that likes sharing their knowledge and wisdom.
In other words, I don't have to agree with you all the time, to enjoy your videos.

The -just fork it- mentality has the potential to kill independent open source software. As more and more users become dependent on large corporate projects like vscode and systemd, it won't matter whether something is open source or not. Software these days is far more large and complicated than it was in the early days of linux, and if one corporation is able to control enough of the linux user space, making a feature for feature alternative will eventually not be feasible. Independent projects just don't have the resources to compete.

I am all for commercializing Linux. I am willing to pay if the company which is selling Linux makes it easy for me to troubleshoot. Priority support, problems fixed by simple installation of patches and make modern version of Windows software and games run on Wine. Launch a stable distribution and make everything work out of the box. For me troubleshooting in Linux is extremely frustrating. After hours of searching and trying i often see myself going back to windows 10.

Hi DT. Would you consider doing a review on the KWIN tiling script for KDE like that one you did for gnome 3.36 ? Even though I usually use WM, I find KWIN for KDE quite nice too. It has several modes to simulate i3, half layout, master, stacked, etc. The only flaw I see is that if you switch workspaces very fast it tends to break and needs to be restarted, but other than that I think it is an interesting alternative to WMs.

The disk selection was a funny thing to see, because I know it, but I use anaconda at least 3 times a week, but enter to the option to confirm the disk selection doesn't make so much sense when only one disk is detected, great thing to think about.

Hey DT, I've just found myself in the world of tiling wm's coz of videos and I love them. I've been using i3 daily for like 3-4 months, before that I've used qtile for couple of weeks, tried many of them. So you should proud, thanks to you I've been more than ever efficient while i'm working/coding !
