The Linux Foundation Doesn't Use Linux To Create Their Reports DistroTube The Linux Foundation was spotted, once again, not using the Linux operating system. In a recent report that they published, you can see that it was created on a Mac using Adobe software. Here are my thoughts on video and in the email below: MY EMAIL TO THE LINUX FOUNDATION: info-linuxfoundation.org To Whom It May Concern: I am long-time Linux user and supporter of free and open source software, but I am growing increasingly concerned that The Linux Foundation and its employees may not share my values regarding Linux and open source. I noticed that the recently published 2020 Linux Kernel History Report was written on a Mac using Adobe software. I find it strange that anyone associated with The Linux Foundation would be using a Mac. And considering that your website states that your organization is committed to providing support for the open source community, I find it even more bizarre that proprietary garbage, such as the software produced by Adobe, is being used to create basic PDF presentations. Personally, I love Linux and open source. Linux has influenced my life in a positive way, and I want Linux to continue to grow and awareness of Linux to spread. But for this to happen, I think that The Linux Foundation and its employees should play a pivotal role in this growth. And I don't see this happening. I don't think it is crazy to imagine a time when the open source community, which tends to be rather idealistic, becomes so uncomfortable with the directions of the Foundation that many in the community abandon Linux altogether. After all, if The Linux Foundation cares so little about Linux and open source, why should I, as an open source advocate, care about Linux? Sincerely, Derek Taylor - https://www.linuxfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/2020_kernel_history_report_082620v2.pdf

I've always been curious... How does a developer make money on Linux?
No DRM, Everything has to be open source or you're branded -Evil- (Which basically means, you're code will be distributed everywhere for free), Telemetry Data is the devil (So you can't even collect data on how your program runs to quickly fix problems for it).
I legitimately am curious as to how you make money on Linux in a way other than through donations. Because, I would like to eat dinner sometime, as a programmer I make a living programming software. So on Linux, how do I continue to do what I love and make money without relying on donations?
Oh, that's another detail: How do you protect your own Hard work from rogues stealing it? As in, how do you remain competitive when your opponent can just -Take your code- and integrate it into their own product to improve theirs legally?

I love the idea of linux but for some work fields its simply suboptimal (if not verging on self sabotage) to use it instead of MacOS or windows. Design being one of them. You may be able to get by using open source alternatives if you work for yourself (and don't mind using inferior products to get your work done) but you're not getting a job in the digital creative industry without using adobe. So yeah, sometimes you gotta just make compromises and use the right tools for the job. Once adobe and some other big names make their software work natively on Linux though, I'm all in.

I will get attacked -again- but what's the problem of using a macbook? lol it's a better laptop than every linux or windows laptop out there. I don't hate any OS but based on your vision... dude I never went to your -community- because you guys are full of hate. guys gotta eat, and they can't without the best software. I hate adobe too but I understand there's nothing better and I get that. it's like a guy eating a mcdonald's burger and I'm eating salad, and I'm not gonna be an asswhole and tell him to stop.

dude - if you ever worked in corporate america (tm) - you would understand that most of the administrative staff will not use Linux, or even Macs in some organizations. Most marketing firms and personnel use Macintosh. It's just the way of the world and tough to change. The free software movement isn't welcome in normal old business. Believe me.

I don't see how that's bad. You would want to use a stable OS that helps you to focus on development so you provide best product. MacOS or Windows are both great for that. When you run something of a foundation like that you need to worry about setting everything up as little as possible.

On one hand Linux desktop sucks so bad that you can't do any professional work on it. On the other hand expecting employees of the foundations to be forced into using cars whose chips run on Linux is very disagreeable. One could look at it as to a call for help -Help us make Linux MacOS good!-.

You know they have the money and there is nothing we (you) can do really. Why be so dam pissed about it? You will die young if you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. Relax and enjoy your life more. Er, well, maybe this topic makes good copy for your video platform. kekekek.

This goes along the lines I've seen many professionals in the industry. They use mainstream tools. Another cybersec professional said it too. People care about getting the work done. Not some technopolitical revolution agenda.

Just an observation but.. the creation of those documents - designwise - could've been outsourced right? I mean that's not so uncommon.
Just for the record, I don't know the linux foundation, I am not defending them.

You cannot run a business with linux. Linux has no stable enterprise grade OSS software. The few companies who use linux only use it to run virtual Windows system. At least they use the word linux
