Guys it looks like there is an option in local group policy editor that disables diagnostic data being sent to MS, looks like it will only work for windows 11 enterprise, Server, & Education editions tho, go to local group policy editor>administrative templates>windows components> Data collection & preview builds> Allow diagnostic Data> enable it then an option box will pop up select Diagnostic Data Off, then hit OK and restart your computer, Now when you go look in Settings>Privacy & Security> Diagnostics & Feedback, Under diagnostic data it should say -Your organization prevents sending diagnostic data to ms-

I'm not opposed to companies collecting data that can improve products, but it's how personal they make it. If they could anonymise the data and abide by some ethical standards, like academics do when conducting research, people probably wouldn't get so upset. There's no reason they can't understand trends by geographic location, age range and so forth without pinpointing it to specific individuals. That's the upsetting bit. Although, if my laptop ever gets stolen, I would be grateful for the exact GPS.

I stopped it the easy way. I stopped using windows and started using Ubuntu Linux 20.04 LTS. It works better on my old laptop and desktop than Win 10 and doesn't tell me anything its going to do. It just works and if I want to update or add something I make the decision to do it. I couldn't be happier and with Libre Office I have no use for Windows anymore. Now, if I can get rid of the INTEL and AMD Hardwired hardware spying or back doors I would be happy. This is a good first start.

Windows sending working/debug information IS NOT new with Windows 11. Since Windows XP, there was such a mechanism.
Your MAC address DO NOT carry far. It ONLY travel to the next device, no more. If you have a router or switch, it won't go farther than that device, your ISP will only see the MAC address of your router/switch, never that of your device. If you are connected directly, then, it will not travel further than the modem from your ISP that you are currently connected to.

Back in the day, when the mom & pop video rental store was king a law was quickly passed that your rental history could not be kept for more than a few days. But big tech is big donations and every politician feels the good they can do with one more term in office outweighs that little ding to their integrity. ... all 10,000 little dings even.

Also, your OS and programs should run from a Read Only drive, with all personal data stored on a removable drive. Physical security is important for confidential data. Nothing left in the PC after power off. The OS run time data stored only in RAM, and erased on power down. Dr. DOS was safer than the privacy invasion of today.

Users data is very useful and can use for improvement. Often I ended up reporting issues, suggesting, fixing it or find a work around.
If they want my data, pay me! If I give you my data, OS should be free. I got me activation license for only 7 dollars.

And of course, the might Apple would never do anything like this. When Microsoft has settings like these they are all bad. Apple would never do this to you. If you believe that, then you certainly are conned. They would -never- do that. Sure.
